I do so enjoy bouncing a comely wench upon my knee.

I do believe I would quailify as a

"Knight of continual happiness!" for I have a fine lance,

and I like to "lance-a-lot"

<<oops - sorry -take me to a punnery!. oops, I did it again>>

My "Lady" and I have attended the Faire in Larkspur, CO at least twice each summer and have been to one in upstate NY and two in California. We always go "in character" and are often mistaken for "staff" (Photos attached)

I know that feeling well SlyFox. I work 9 weekends here at our faire, and whenever I visit another, I am always asked questions about it. I try to help where I can, but I wonder why these people dressed so strangly think everyone dressed such as I must be working??

Wonderful photos!

hello all,

This list has slowed downa bit these days, but I thought most would still find this interesting.

I ran across a site for people interested in Rennaissance Faire and the period and thought some of you might be interested. They have articles, classifieds, and membership to the site. It could develop into a way to meet people from other areas who are interested in the same things you are. Hope you enjoy it if you decide to visit. :)

Hope everyone is staying warm these days.

Good Day

Just stopping by to say hello to one and all. Happy Holidays.

These may have already been mentioned but I try and make both the The Texas Renaissance Festival in Plantersville, Texas just north of Houston and Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie, Texas, just south of Dallas each year.

The Texas Ren Fest is held from the first weekend in October though the 2nd or 3rd weekend in November each year and this year Scarborough Faire runs 8 weekends, from April 12 through June 1.

Both are great, and even though I live near Houston, I think I like Scarborough Faire best.

Hello Jac,

I've never been down near tx for the ren fests. I usu go to the 1 either in md or in charlotte. Have you ever heard of the sca?? it's along the lines of the renfests, w/ the same time period and costumes. fun fun fun.

hi va_angel2u

Yeah I have heard of them.. have a a couple of freinds who are long time mmmbers of SCA. They live in Tenn and get a lot more serious about it than I do. They do have fun but seem to go to a lot more time and expense than I do. I've only gone in costume a few times. My friends always go in constume and also take part in a lot of the plays/events/role playing that goes on. They enjoy it so each to his/her own.

I know that 15-20 years ago Tex Ren Faire was a lot more "adult" than it is now. They've tamed it down so it's more family oriented. but some of the costumes leave little to the imagination.

I didn't get to go to Tex Ren Faire this year as the weekends I could have the weather was too bad but I'm planning on going to Scarborough Faire.

Well, the sca is like anything else, diff folks go at it in different degrees. I've seen some outfits that looked like the were professionally made, the folks had a diff outfit for every occassion, ect. Me, I do have about 4 outfits (and 2 of them can go together to make a 5th outfit. :D) the 2 that can be worn together were bought, and I've not bought/made any outfits in over 10 yrs. oh..wait...I do have a tunic/harem pants outfit also...so 5/6 outfits. lol.

It's a game that you control your participation. You have fun w/ the ren faires.....great. Usu. when I go to them, I'm a mundane as well. Just hanging out and relaxing.

Hope you are able to make it to the other ren faire when it comes to town.
