I get involved and no matter what the subject is, it seems that America is split 49% for and 51% against. No matter what we do half the country is going to be pissed.

How did we as a people get this opposed to each other. I find myself feeling like my neighbor with the Cruz sign in his yard is my enemy. I find it hard to imagine a situation where he and I would be on the same side.

I know BB thinks I am some sort of a silly loon when I say I trust Clinton. But I am sure she is the best chance for turning this thing around. I once heard Jimmy Carter give a speech at an Allman Bros concert. He told the the cheering listeners that he would decriminalize pot. He was a Sunday school teacher, a good man to replace the crooked politician that we had just kicked out of office, Richard Nixon. Carter turned out to be too good of a man for the job, The Sunday school teacher got his goody goody ass kicked by the dirty dealings in Washington. Worst it made the left look weak and led to the election of Reagan in 1980. Everything bad in America started to get worst on the day he was elected in 1980.

I don't want another 'nice guy' to throw into the shark tank. I don't want to see Trump follow Obama the way Reagan followed Carter.

I tend to think of all politicians as being whores, willing to do most anything for money. If that is the case, than Hilary should be one well greased and callused girl.
She has been run down and hounded by the right her whole career. At one point they were raising money for their defense fund during the 'whitewater' years. She has been a bottom for bill and the republicans since they were in Arkansas. Sending her back armed with a strong public support as well as a democratic senate and the supreme court at her back would turn her from a long suffering whore to a madam on a mission.

The mission should be to bring us back together as a nation. Its going to be a hard job, with many steps. Getting money out of politics by overturning 'citizens united',. Finding way to stop police from abusing their power and hold them accountable without destroying their authority. Getting the church out of politics is as important as getting money out. Its is a big job and one person ain't going to get to all of it. So I say give Hilary a chance and see if she can get the ball moving in the right direction.

The problem with this is philosophy is it's largely lead us to where we are now. When we get pissy oft times for things either out of control of Congress or at least not the sort of thing we should blame them fore we burn down the house without regard to anything logical.

Arresting people that are violating another person's rights is the role of government, we invented government to fill that role so that we don't need to form a posse and jury ourselves every time some bastard rapes a child or kills a neighbor.

That isn't the same as government telling you how to build your tool-shed, what you can eat, who you can marry, etc.

Government's role is not to infringe on liberty it is to punish and ensure compensation when one individual or group infringes on another individual or group.

The government can't stop me from throwing punches, it can only make me pay restiution to the person I injured and sentence me to prison for damaging the social contract.

Part of living in our society is not behaving like a wild man living in the jungles, if you breach that code you owe the civilization a debt, which is payed in fines and jail time just like you pay for the damages done to your victim.
