Sex & Shenanigans

Enjoy your burnt retinas
I switched from dark background to light about 35 years ago. Because it was easier on my eyes when I was staring at the computer screen about 60 hours a week. I can’t work like that anymore, not even close. But my retinas? They are very healthy. So….

*from ‘88 to ‘92, I was young and hungry to prove myself, so I was working about 60 hours a week (with text based computer screens). That wasn’t an exaggeration. But by ‘94 I was well established, and didn’t need to kill myself working those kinds of hours anymore. I don’t miss it.*

@UnquietDreams can probably quote 11 different studies on it without working hard. Honestly, I would guess it probably is split results. But, for me, staring at the dark backgrounds with the bright letters gives me a headache. 🤷‍♀️
It is situational. Dark mode helps with eye strain in low ambient light. Light mode works better in other circumstances. But contrast is more important for helping avoid strain. I can look up data on that if you want, but that's the gist.
