Random question... is it just me or have rental properties gotten crazy with their requirements lately? I have decent credit and am a good person, but I feel like we're going to get rejected because my husband is a smoker who is trying to quit. They don't want you to smoke within 25 feet of the rental property or the neighbor's property.

In my area things have been crazy but are getting worse and worse. Is smoking status something they can ask legally? I think it’s state by state. I know in my state a rental can be a nonsmoking rental but I don’t think they can ask if you smoke.
