Thank you, hon. I've enjoyed reading the responses and doing some thinking about it too.

I'm liking this thread more and more..think I'll try and keep it active for a while.

just bumping the thread !

Good Morning!

The latest question I stumbled across in this book involved aphrodisiacs. Not in the traditional sense of those all elusive ones though. It speaks not only of physical ones, but emotional ones too. The author calls them potentently powerful pulls.
He places much emphasis on the emotional pulls.

So, today I'm wondering...

What do you think are both the physical and emotional aphrodisiacs that attract you to someone?

What is it about another person that really gets to you?

well physically it would be her scent, her soft skin,a gentle touch & then the eyes...oh yes the eyes can truly say so much...
emotionally being able to laugh & giggle together is an attractive quality...but being able to let our hair down & let each other into our inner selfs with all our attributes & flaws is the ultimate reward ;)

LMT you have such a nice way of putting things into words!

Similar to you..physically the eyes definitely and a kind, pretty smile and their gentle touch on me..

Emotionally is harder for me...I have a hard time letting my guard down and letting people in..so for a person to be themselves and able to make me comfortable to let my hair down, as you said, and let someone in...that is the greatest

I just love reading what people say here!

Thanks to both of you for replying..

So ....the "eyes" have it!

Physical attributes that attract me can vary, and there are those that I find really hot, but not really ones that I want to be with..I’m not at all into the muscle flexing, body hair covered men. Body hair...definite turn off...I’ve never be drawn to a guy who was really tall or big built..Just not my taste. Blue eyes..I love blue eyes, but not exclusively so. And his hands..I love hands....I find that I often look at a guy's hands right away..LOL kinda the opposite of a foot fetish I guess.

Now, emotional aphrodisiacs...I could write a book..but I’ll cut to the chase. At least I’ll try to. He must have a sense of humor and know how to let the inner child inside come out to play, but that must be tempered by responsibility. He needs to be self assured, but not overly so. He needs to be open-minded, but should not be afraid to hold stead fast to those things he feels strongly about..I’ve never wanted a guy who would say anything, just because he thinks it’s what I think. I want him to challenge me, intellectually and emotionally.

I guess those are the most important ones for me since they came to mind first.

Oh, and it helps a lot if he likes football and baseball..in that order. :)

Turn ons?

There has been a debate as to whether there is such a thing as an aphrodisiac - ie something to eat or drink to make you fall in love or at least in lust with someone else. I think booze is close and chocolate is definitely close :D

But for me and going on some experience, I'd have to say her voice is big turn on. I love deep voiced women (like Bette Midler or Aretha Franklin). I've never been turned on by the squeaky voiced girl. In fact, I'll usually run from such. :D

Visually? She has to have a chin. This is a big surprise to almost everyone, including me. I simply don't like chinless people (weak chins are a sign of malnourishment according to a Discovery channel episode I saw). Now, I don't want a Jay Leno chin on a lady, but it definitely must be well defined. And she has to have healthy looking skin. I hate seeing prison pallor white or yellow. My favorite skin color is a mocha look, sort of what you see in the south seas, but color is not a biggie with me, as long as she doesn't look like she just got out of a dungeon somewhere.

The scent of a woman. That is my biggest aphrodiasiac. I love a woman who smells like a woman. I hate the over-perfumed, flowery, or deoderized woman. Just be clean and a bit musky smelling and that turns me on.

I dont know? Did this answer your question.

For me it is sound, scent and pleasing to look at.

Physicallity there has never been a "must" type... I do like bigger, brawny men but it's probably more a function of the type of gentleman I usually attract rather than a real preferance. Hair or not, its not a big deal either...

I agree, that a lot of attraction comes from scent... men I have cared about have always smelled good to me with or without cologne, and for me its a pretty good barometer of my feelings for the person. When my marriage went south I remembered being physically repelled at his scent. So you men, if I tell you "MMMM you smell good." its time to get happy feet or run for the hills, depending on how you feel about me. ;)

But what really gets me is touch. I love to be touched, held, snuggled, cuddled ect. Just the right carress, like the brush of the back of a hand alone my waist, or a quick kiss on the temple will end up stored in my data bank of memories where I will revist it from time to time to remember just how it felt.

EJ... I am enjoying this thread immensely!!. It's so much fun for me to think out a response, as opposed to my usual sling from the hip posts. Thanks so much. I must buy this book...:D

Yes, Lance you answered the question. Thanks for sharing your ideas there..You're right..chins was a surprising feature.

I'm so glad you're enjoying this thread Rosie and I love reading your replies. I like questions like these too, and so I thought I would share them here. I'm glad it's been well received.

The book itself has a lot of good thought provoking passages. But it also has a lot of things to just kind of wade through. I'm pulling out the better parts of it for us here. :)

"A Fine Balance" is the title... if you loved the depressing aspects of "Angela's Ashes"... then you will reveal in this one... actually it's interesting but a large downer.. I think Sex is a good next catagory....;)

I did enjoy parts of Angela's Ashes, but it was pretty heavy on the depression ..I understood that the follow up to that called "Tis" wasn't nearly as good. I passed on that one..

Sex is a good follow -up to anything, right?? LOL

Well, this book is called The Erotic Mind and it's written by Jack Morin.

"Tis" really isn't as good... parts of "Angela's Ashes" either had me laughing hysterically or crying like a baby...but my sister got me an autographed copy of "Tis" as a b-day present... so it graces my shelves...

If I May slip my 2 cents in..and I will be serious :)

Whilst like most, if not all men, we do have a fixation about the visual side to the lady, I like the lady to make me laugh and smile. I have seen someone's signature about.."turn on my mind, the body is yours". That is my sentiment too. The lady could be the best looking lass in the world, but unless she can "affect" my mind...she is of no use to me at all. I have been with stunning ladies...but so damn boring too.

Whilst most of the ladies thing that I am a "breast" man..to be honest, the size doesn't matter at all to me. What is important is nice hands, nice nails and smiling eyes, the ability to laugh, mess around, giggle and not be afraid to walk out holding hands.
I do like nice legs too.

The above is a bit splintered I guess...but I typed as thoughts came to me, without any thought into how it would come out or read.

It came out great Ukin..I'm glad you're with us here on this thread...Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

I just love reading what all of you have to say.

Hiya Liza..so glad you came by..thanks for sharing your thoughts on these with us.

I'm curious...when you know that you have really done it for your lover, does your self esteem rise?

Hope to see you back here soon.

Yes, it raises me shy high....but then when I am rejected, whether it be sexual or otherwise, I get knocked back down a peg or two....

Gotta catch up on my pages to answer any more questions...

Liza
