Free tix to a Red Wings v stars game would do it. Other things might as well, if there's enough fun to be had.

By and large, I prefer to avoid the metroplex.

Another Fun Fact: That was the third film of that name!

And in an unrelated fact: The year after State Fair (1962), Elvis Presley starred in "It Happened at the World Fair" which was also the film debute of Kurt Russel (who got to kick Elvis in the shin). Sixteen years later, Kurt Russel would play Elvis in the 1979, made for tv biopic, "Elvis".
