I like it, of course, you could also send the money to me, I don't mind suffering, for the good of humanity of course. Must always do our part for our fellow man after all. LOL

Seriously, it is kind of interesting that most of those are true. Which makes it real sad that people always try to buy what they have to earn.

The even sadder part is that they don't know how to begin to earn it.

You both are so correct......Money is the ruin of all things:( to much greed

Not just greed MaryBears, it is also the failure to be able to know how to earn things like respect that can cause a great deal of problems.

I was speaking of this very thing this morning with a neighbor Mary. She is in her late 80's and it was very interesting to hear her take on it.

I bet it was.....The older generation could really tell the younger generation alot.....I know...Back when the older generation was growing up they didn't have all the crimes, drugs etc....or at least they didn't advertise it or something

I think from listening to a good many older people talk, that it was hidden. It wasn't talked about and it carried a certain amount of shame for the entire family.

Why is it so hard for people to respect each other. We all have the same feelings, if we would learn to share them, without trying to "get over" on each other all the time, we would be a whole lot happier in our own lives. I would rather have a few good friends, than a lot of people who were around to see what they could get, and would rather be a good friend than ever profit from someone else, when it wasn't a gain for them. I wish there were more true people in the world, and that those that aren't true were more recognizable/ It would make gaining friends a whole lot easier.

I think your right.....Also the children showed respect for their elders or else they got their ass busted.....Things was alot different than they are now....I remember getting my ass busted and it didn't kill me.....I would rather an ass busting than a tongue lashing......The tongue lashing hurts longer than the ass busting

I think that is what is missing for that some people. There is no way for discipline anymore.

I used to have a neighbor that would call the cops because she couldn't handle her 5 year old.

Exactly......parents can't disipline, teachers can't ....no one can....and you know what the kids know it so they do it just that much more......it is very sad to see our nation in the state it is in.....another issue is taking the prayers and "God" out of school and everything else

I can understand their wanting to not single out one religion but a minute of prayer or silence is fine.

I think that you are right Mary about the younger generation. I also think that the people of our generation are determined to give their children all that they never had.

I know a 16 year old that has a car, credit cards, cell phone all in their own name. They don't work at all. Parents pay for it all.

yes i know that is true.....but like you said they don't respect it...nor do they respect their parents:(

So sad, but oh so true.

the sad part is..i have a sister that is working two jobs, and her husband works too...just so they can have everything they want for them and the three kids.....I flat out ask her if she was trying for an early grave:(

The thing is that they don't see it the same way that we do. It is the materialistic side of them that rules.

I wouldn't know too much about modern America. I grew up on a Native American Reservation, our values are a whole lot different than those taught in american culture. One of my best friends when I was a teen, was in his 90's , he taught me to fly fish, tie my own flies and truly enjoy every minute. His favorite saying was, every man has a life, few men live them. He insisted that how we treated people was how we should expect to be treated. And that life was meant to be shared, not horded, no man lives alone, and if you can't reach a hand out to others, then you have no life worth living. Those lessons stayed with me, all of my life, maybe that is what is needed these days. The teens of today feel abandoned by their parents, and alone when they face the rest of the world. Maybe if we each reached out to one teen, or younger person, we could make a difference.

Very true Cuddly.....I would much rather have a few "True" caring and loving friends than a bunch just to see what they can get.....I like your way of thinking:)

I also agree that we all need to reach out to one or more teens because they do feel abandoned.

This world is hard enough on those of us with life experience, I can't imagine what it must be to those that have none and then feel abandoned as well.

You have really said alot of the same things i was taught.....AND, I coming from a family of seven children, had to learn to get along and to help out....we had time to play but we also had to take time to help raise the garden, feed the animals, cut the wood, clean the house, and the older ones had to take and help with the younger ones.....But it all worked out....we turned out good...and MAN we never spoke back to our elders.....That would get you in serious trouble and very very fast.

yes we do....they feel abandoned because both parents are working or they come from a single parent home.....

I have an 18 year old cousin that has told me that I am her most favorite person cause I listen to her and I give her good advice....she has lead a rough life....her father (my uncle) died when she was 11 years old....it was hard on her....and she tells me all the time that she loves me and I love her just like she is one of my nieces instead of my cousin.

I also think that all the chores we did, and for all that we mumbled about doing them, helped make us somewhat more self responsible and that is something that is sadly lacking in today's society.
