The Cozy Corner

I think the ac is going to have to go on today!! Supposed to be 85 (29) & I’m not going to survive otherwise 🥵
We get hot temps in the summer in the UK.
35⁰c
But I don't know of anyone with AC in their home.
Inside can be warm but not sweltering.
Someone once told me it's because our houses are normally brick built???
But then again heard from tourists from hot countries that the UK is uncomfortable for them because of the humidity and lack of AC.
Anyway, that's my random comment for the day... Brighton are playing so back to the game 🤣

That’s unacceptable 😂 Crosses off visit UK in the summer off the list!

Brick houses takes longer to be hot in the summer than wood. They also accumulates the heat so it takes longer to cool down in the autumn.
I live in a brick house and I love it in the summer.

AC is to me a thing that makes it harder to cope with the heat outside. If the temperature difference is closer between inside and outside you get use to the heat. But if you hav 20°C inside and you have 35°C on the outside it will be heavy to get out every time. When I'm at the Mediterranean in the summer it can get up to 40°C and all the stores have their AC on. It's freezing inside and if you stay inside too long it's like someone hit you with a bag when you get out.
So no AC for me.

The humidity in the southern states is what gets you here. If you don’t have AC then nothing dries. But, this spring has been very pleasant so far… until today anyway 😄

We are a country of rain! When the sun comes out, we live in it and get sunburnt to the point we look like a nation of lobsters!

When heatwaves hit I adopt the Mediterranean countries norm of closing all windows and outside doors and keeping curtains shut during the day. Only open them at night when it's cooler.

@wwot40 can probably describe better why this works, as know he's Italian, but it does. And our temps get nothing like Southern Europe!

You know you have a place to stay any time of the year @cheekygirl75 😘

This ☝️is what I was trying and failing to explain 😂

When I have visited, it's the temps and humidity combination in SE Asia that can really take ot out of you physically
No sad faces on my post guys!!!
SE Asia is my go to destination (when money allows).
Absolutely love it.
And when the thunderstorms break because of the humidity it is amazing!

@Shenanigans90 you would live in a permanent state of horniness 😂

Right.... That worked when I lived in Colorado and it wasn't humid. Here, though, I cannot imagine trying to just stick it out no matter what all I did with windows and curtains and fans
TBF I am not familiar with US temps except the States I have visited. Only California, New York and Nevada. It was a dry heat there when I went.

So I better be quiet and huddle back into the corner 😂

Now, if you’re talking about the mountains of NC, then that’s different. Temperature is usually 10° to 15° cooler than the piedmont and the humidity is less. So, it’s very nice, especially in the summer
A long weekend in the mountains in the summer is always a welcome respite from both the heat and the hectic nature of daily life
