So do I.. and I like to parallel park too.

Do not see any issues.
If anything, it is more convenient and efficient.

And like @Strixaluco said, it was a part of the obligatory requirements to pass the drivers license test.
It became normal to do right from the start.

Probably something to do with the spectacularly insular views this dumb country holds about Europe in general

And the fact we drive on the other side of the road, so we will more likely hire cars out there (those of us who aren't moronic xenophobes with a sense of British exceptionalism) than bring our own

There is it technically nothing wrong with it at all. Some studies even find it safer. It just slightly annoys me having to wait for people who are doing it.

Anytime I can park by driving through a spot, that's indeed the way. Any other way you have to back at some point.

Maybe its a US v. UK thing but it takes significantly longer to back into a space here.

We have bigger cars and smaller spaces

UK spaces are plenty small enough, trust me!

As Salty says, it’s more about traffic… reversing in has much better visibility than reversing out into a flow of traffic looking for a spot.

Lol I won't speak to UK parking lots and traffic but here, I think it makes you look like a selfish tWat who can't drive so you'll make everyone stop and watch you slowly maneuver you big ass truck between two other cars so you can save a fraction of a second when you're leaving.

Its easier and faster to back into a wide open space than between two other vehicles.
