If you've let the ball drop on friendly PMs - how late is too late to respond???

Once they’ve left lit. That’s happened more than once. I can be very slow in responding.

But that is also why I like pm. It’s similar to snail mail. Like monkey said, you can pick it right back up because it’s all there for review.

Receiving them? No time limit at all. I get it, things happen and all is good. Sometimes I might feel anxious that it's for personal reasons - like I've unintentionally really offended someone and they don't know how to tell me - but that's a "me" problem.

Sending them? I feel guilty if I don't send a reply after a couple of weeks. Its usually because of my mental health and being drained of energy or making me think I bring nothing of value. And the longer I leave a gap the harder it is for me to close it. Would they even want to hear from me anyway?

serious, I’m the type of person that responds to a friends text message a year later as if the conversation ended yesterday.

It’s highly dependent on the exact nature of the friendship, but if they’re not people I speak to nearly daily then weeks, months, years, are all the same to me. I’m very casual

It can be disconcerting I guess. but most of my friends are used to it by now.

It's never too late. I'm a firm believe that things are only as awkward as you make them. Why not just jump right back in
