I was thinking about putting sensitive infrared cameras on the ceiling of a movie theater. I could look at a monitor and see the heat signatures of the 200+ people sitting there. I could see the heat signatures during the opening credits and the beginning of the movie and consider that the baseline. What I really want to observe is how those heat signatures change when an erotic sex scene is shown to the audience. I imagine that with the right equipment I could see an increasingly warm glow in the crotches of one moviegoer after another until it is clear that everyone there is sexually aroused to some degree. I’d be interested in knowing the age and sex and sexual preferences of each image I observe. Who gets turned on the quickest? Who stays turned on the longest after the erotic scene ends? What about the seeming anomalies? By anomalies I mean something like the college-age lesbian couple who both are plainly turned on by images of nude men and heterosexual lovemaking. I wonder about what else I might observe and make note of.
