I'm sure I'll have a great time as well. And it'll be great with so many DS9 actors, since I'm a big DS9 fan!

Iam a part time sci-fi geek(full time fantasy geek), I like mostly old stuff, Dr who star trek(some old and next gen), Blake seven(keep waiting for the repeat on uk gold).Iam a bit of a sucker for sci-fi films like blade runner and total recall etc.
Most underated sci fi series was babylon 5.
Cheesiest film-starship troopers(but it has got denise richards in it :nana: )

I'm a huge fan of Battlestar G. (Can't believe they're making us wait 'til January!!!) I also religiously watch SG-1, and watch Atlantis too, although I'm not as attached to it. I liked the original Tripping the Rift mini-movie, but the series seemed to have lower production work. The graphics weren't as good.

I tried Dr Who, but it just didn't make it for me, although the girl is cute. Right now, I'm into the Startrek TNG reruns every afternoon.

Battlestar G premiers in October 6th.. and they have a some big surprises in store from what I've read.. They are also talking about a BG movie..

Same here but DS9 is my least favorite.. Looks like we've got Star Trek 10 on the way in 2008.. J.J. Abrams is the producer and it supposedly to be set back during Kirk's academy days when he first meets Spock and going through to the first mission on the Enterprise. I just hope they use unknowns for the established character's parts.. Also a Star Wars series on the way also set 00 years after the Episode 6 movie (#3).. Stargate and Stargate Atlantis rock.. as does the new Dr. Who, too bad we have a new actor this season... Yeah I think I watch the SciFi channel about 80% of the time.. Cone Oct and the new season of Battlestar Galactica

DITTO Here! But, I'm also addicted to Ghost Hunters and I was raised on Dr. Who and am so glad it's back!
Some of my other faves: Red Dwarf, Farscape, Andromeda, Sliders, Quantum Leap (second series coming soon!), and Highlander (sorta sci-fi).

When I was in America it would be on the Sci Fi channel for a whole evening. :)

Yep. Family, both sides, knows better than to try calling us on a Friday night. :)

In other words, the long-promised final three of the nine-movie series. If they're as lame as the most recent trilogy, Lucas shouldn't bother.

Actually, if he's referring to the same thing I'm thinking of, it's supposed to be a TV series rather than movies. Lucas has unequivocally stated he won't be doing any more Star Wars movies, possibly a TV mini-series, but that'd be it. Though about a decade ago, he did say that the Timothy Zahn novels were 98% likely to be exactly what happened post-RotJ . . . which means there'd be a great script for 7-9. :)

The last convention i went to, quite a few years ago. John de Lancie (Q) was the guest. At one point in his speech he told us all to reach over and pat the fanny of the person sitting beside us. We all started laughing, he looked confused until someone ran up to him and whispered in his ear. He started laughing too as he was told that in Australia fanny is another word for pussy.

Count me in as a Sci-Fi fan as well. Star Trek: The Next Generation being my fav, but I also love the Star Wars Trilogy (Original not the sissy Episodes 1 - 3) And also I have to include Back to the Future Trilogy ...after all time travel is Science Fiction :) ... Just to name a few.

BSG, Trek, Star Wars, SG1, SGA you name it. I like most sci fi even the bad stuff from the 70's :D

My list of confessions:

Star Trek: TNG, DS9, Voyager - in this order close to my heart.
Babylon 5
Dune Series
Galactica

For some reason I never really got into the old Star Wars movies and as a result neither into the more recent ones.

My sci-fi fan period was intense but didn't go beyond my teens. Though I still keep fond memories of it. Dreaming is always fun. :)

 How could you not get into Dr Who? Classic Sci/Fi TV. I'm really enjoying the new series.

Sorry I'm perhaps not old enough to have seen the 'classic' version (or if I am old enough, then my parents just didn't watch it and as such neither did I and sad to say that's still somewhat true) and I watched one episode of the new one and just could not get into it....

Damn!!! That hit me right where it hurts. LOL..... I'm not that old.
Fair enough, Dr Who's not everyones cup of tea. I guess you gotta like your corny sci/fi to really get into it.

Speaking of corny - my mom (the Ultimate Sci-Fi Chick) got me two sci-fi classics (according to her) for my birthday - Jerry Anderson's UFO and Space:1999. I have never seen the UFO series and haven't seen Space 1999 since I was a rugrat.
I am considering calling in sick, so I can stay at home and really get my geek on. :)
I am so excited!

I wouldn't have called myself a sci-fi fan... up until this year. My boyfriend and his father introduced me to it, and I find myself enjoying watching everything they watch.

They love Star Trek (whichever happens to be on), Andromeda, Battlestar Galatica and Firefly, so I've begun watching all of those when I am around them. :)

I'm much more of a fantasy freak than anything else. Give some swords and horses, and I'll be happy... but I'm liking the space ships more and more these days, too.

Gerry Anderson had some good stuff. His Thunderbird is a very bizzare series :) always loved UFO and Space 1999 myself

I never really liked Space: 1999 myself. Don't know why, it just never appealed to me.

I loved UFO though. First SF series where the space combats were something resembling realistic. I'm a bit anal about that. ;)

And it had the same sort of mystery that made the X-Files appealing. You never really knew who or what was behind the UFOs.

Watched Space 1999 and Battlestar Glactica growing up-both fruits of Canadian creativity. :)

Love the Star Trek franchises (Mom used to tell me as a kid how she met Leonard Nimoy during the original run of ST while she was working in a hospital-if omly she'd gotten a dated autograph :) ) Won't go on about the Canuck connections here, lol.

Original Star Wars trilogy as well-Obi-Wan's scene with the troopers convinced my 5yo mind that I wanted to learn about words and persuasion-hence my work today in writing, marketing and teaching.

Like classic authors like Asimov, Bradbury, etc.. as well as swords and sorcery (not sci fi per se, but lots of crossover among the pulpers)

Cheers,

Lik

Really like the startrek next generation and the older and the new startrek.
Also babylon5 and galactica and many other series and movies.
If that's the future we're heading to i'm sad to know i live in the present and don't get to experience space travels , meet other life forms and use exotic technologies.
Beam me up scotty !!

I love Star Trek, I think DS 9 is my fav too mostly because of the Ferengi characters. They're so well done and the actors pull them off so well.

I also loved Stargate, Firefly, and going way back Space:1999, how cool was the opening title? Oh and both Battlestars. I've been enjoying the new Doctor Who too.

I'm so excited to see Firefly mentioned a few times in this thread... It's my all-time favorite! :)

Sci-fi faves

Star Trek was my first true sci-fi addiction. Then of the spinoffs, I like Voyager the best. I am so into StarGate and StarGate Atlantis. I DVR them all the time. Last week I watched five hours straight of old StarGates. Like to read it, too. My first Sci-fi book was "A Wrinkle in Time." Anyone else read it?

I'm a huge SCi-fi fan

Stargate SG-1 is my ultimate fave. I own every season and every commentary there is out there.
I love the episode where Dom Delouise guest starred as Unas.

Firefly and serenity are my second. You gotta love kaylee and her craziness. I'm so glad fox fianlly sold them over to the sci-fi channel and they will be starting up production again.

I also love the Doctor Who series and And currently working on red Dwarf. They are both great.

My next purchase is going to be the atlantis series
