Chyoo 3???

does it say importing

because mind just say done

and NOTHING HAPPENS

I only need to import 2 of my big ones

OK, I understand that people have a need to press buttons lots and lots of times, but pressing the elevator button more than once does not make the elevator come any faster. Only click the import link once. It will say it's done right away. That's normal.

It looks like people can't resist the urge to click click click click the link, so I'm changing it so you can only click it once.

If you click it once, and it doesn't work, well, let me know. We'll get it right, eventually, together :) .

So how much activity do you want on Chyoo3 at this point? Your opening note says not to add to stories on the site as they may be changed or deleted in unexpected ways. I am continuing to add to Chyoo2 with the expectation that I will import everything to Chyoo3 when you say go.

When I move my stories over to Chyoo3 my intention is to only add threads on that site going forward. I can't see trying to add threads on both sites, and I don't want to have two different versions of my stories going that I will never get reconciled. Please let everyone know what you think we should be doing now.

Thanks.

:D

An excellent question. There seems to have been a huge drop in the number of threads i approve on CHYOO2, (none in weeks), and I don't think it can be entirely blamed on the site. I guess people are unsure.

I'm basicaly recommending that people add to both, by cutting and pasting. My aim is to use CHYOO3 exclusively now, but to have CHYOO2 as a backup. Of course, the writers themselves have to do the cutting and pasting, since they wouldn't be credited if I did it myself, but that is inconvenient and could also be discouraging to writers we desperately need.

I also just want to say, ofhabit2, that although this thread is now very much a place for people to whine about problems they have found with CHYOO3, I think I speak for everyone when I say thank you very much for all that you are doing in the name of CHYOO.

I would like to hear directly from ofhabit2 as to how confident he is in his site before I start adding a lot of new threads to it.

my stories didnt import the first time and now the import function not even there. Please give me a hand.

Thanks

I just wanted to add my thanks too. I know that what you're doing must be a huge undertaking, and I am glad you have the interest to do it.

Keep up the good work, Ofhabit2.

I am still hesitant to encourage people to go forward with writing stories on this new site ... it's just not fully fleshed out yet. Still no searching, user notification, or story moderation. Also, the import is still not perfect.

About the import: first of all, it still doesn't handle the special characters properly; second of all, you can really only run it once per story. This might not be a problem for some people. On the bright side, I think it's now set up so that it won't get kicked from chyoo.com (chyoo2). The site was having some troubles with people clicking the link more than once (sometimes five, or six, or ten times), so I made it so you can only click the link once. If you've clicked the link, and the site still hasn't imported any stories half an hour later (it can actually take many hours to fully import stories, so if you have big big stories with lots of threads, be patient) -- anyway, if it doesn't seem to have worked, email me, and I can run an import manually.

So - it seems to me that being able to get your "old" stories over to chyoo3 is very important to most people. (I know it's important to me.) Is the current, import-it-once model OK? Or would people appreciate the ability to import all their stories, then later, do "another import," which would, in effect, tack on any pages added to their stories at chyoo2 since their first import?

Back to my first point ... you *can* write stories here, I don't really plan on deleting all the stuff that's already been imported. It *should* be safe. I know that doesn't sound very confident ... :( ... sorry ... hopefully I'll get some time sometime soon to sit down and really polish chyoo3 up to a nice shine.

By the way ... is anybody else interested in developing chyoo3? It's written in php, and uses MySQL. Two coders might be better than one :) .

First off, I want to thank you for the hard work you've done thus far, and what you plan to do. My hat is off to you.

Second, I would very much like to be able to import more than once. This would be much easier than cutting and pasting as an individual's stories are updated at Chyoo2.

Perhaps once Chyoo3 is fully up and running this ability could with curtailed or eliminted, after 3 becomes THE main venue for stories.

I think the double import is a must. It will ensure that nothing gets left behind when Chyoo2 is abandoned in favor of Chyoo3.

I was trying to make sure once I changed over to Chyoo3 that would be it going forward. I really don't want to be in a position of having to look at both sites, and update both sites.

My other concern is how do we get the word out to all the writers that do not frequent the board. I have several people I can think up off of the top of my head that have never posted here, but have written dozens of threads. We need to make sure not to leave them behind.

In the recent thread that I posted looking for who is active on the boards I received fewer than two dozen responses so there must be a least twice that many people out there who write, but do not post or read on the boards.

I think at this point we should give Chyoo3 a little more time to be perfected before moving to it completely. It is a great start and I wish I knew anything about coding so I could help.

This leads to another thought which is, how are you handling the hosting of site on a permanent basis. I don't want you to take any of the following as a criticism of the work you have done to date, because you have brought things along very well. My question is have you thought about how the site will be managed in the long term? Obviously there is a cost associated with it? Also I think your call for help with the coding is great as you bearing the full load cannot be easy.

My concern is how will the site be managed in the long run. If you lose interest, or get a job that does not allow your time to continue how would the site continue to operate. I would not want to see it become abandoned or neglected much as we are now. Is there is way to set up a management council, or group that would own the site, and be responsible for upkeep and maintenance. This way is would not rest with just one person to be responsible for everything to do with the site.

I hope you see that my thoughts are in the light of how to build a better Chyoo and hopefully can be the start of some discussion on how to handle things going forward.

ok slight promblem

see why create a wreslter not up let. It seem it takes time for the stories to go up..sometime hours and hour. So I dont have to be log on it still waiting

I sent Ofhabit the create a wrestling link assume it will be on soon (could be wrong though)..small promblem though it seem my early draft of that is up all ready. The draft was denied. Thing is got denied for some of my stories more then ounces..affair I will have like 5 denied stories up that the same story. Sense it sometime take me a couple of trys for thing to be accepted.

So if that becomes a promblem is thier a way for it to be deleted

also do chyoo.net tell you when people add to your story..sense I have trusted users.

Hey. Well I guess it's kind of dumb to post about it right now- somewhat premature since I only explored the site slightly. But I did read (skim) through the majority of the threads before this one. Another reason this post is kind of silly is that I'm responding to mostly posts in the first half of the thread. I just today discovered the Chyoo 3 site. I've been a faithful reader and reluctant poster at Chyoo (mainly because I doubt my own abilities) for a long time, and before that at Literotica. I'm very glad to have used both sites as they have helped me define my opinions and improve my writing skills. Babbling, but what's a pillow without fluff. So first I would like to thank you wholeheartedly and offer support. Emotional support... I don't really have the money or skill to help in other ways. And to the point. I would like to say, even though I'm in the bare minority here, that I think no subjects should be taboo. This site should have high enough standards to approve/disapprove stories based on how well written it is, and how good of a story it is. It should be based on character development, plot, setting, utilization, mechanics and things of that nature, not guidelines. I understand that underaged stories might be cause for your server to eliminate your domain and then to protect the safety of the site that should be disallowed. And I also understand that the dirtier the content gets the less likely the writing is good, but if a story containing beastiality is well written and developed, then I don't see who you are to judge those people any more than you can judge homosexuals. Well... maybe a little more. I just think anything can be made into good literature by a true artist. And I don't know about you but I respect a lot of the writing for the writing and am not just looking for the easiest way too get off. Maybe that's just me... Also I was registered by the username of 69 and when Chyoo became Chyoo 2 that username became invalid. Is there any way I could recover access to that name? I'm not exactly sure how strong the bond between Chyoo 2 and Chyoo 3 is right now since I haven't yet checked for myself.

Well sorry for talking so much, feel free to just skip this thread and read the next one. (and sorry if (that) I used incorrect computerspeech throughout the post)

You will need to allow a second chance for ppl to press import, cos i jst done it, and it worked, downloaded first story fine, i left it running, come back while later and clicked view stories but it asked me to log back in. it showing my big story as being there, but when i clicked on it, it hasnt imported the whole thing, and as it seems to import from back to front, cannot get into story at all.

however, could that be cos i was impatient before and set up new username and created new story under same name, so maybe it jst wont transfer cos there already story with same name?

whatever case, now i cant do a new import so i cannot transfer this story, and as its about 250 threads, i do sort of want this one in the new site!!!

anyway, hope this can be sorted, and lets hope the new site is gonna work great, it already looks good

create a wresler still not over

the main stories I want to manuver was Create a wrestler

and ultimate fanfiction..Although create a wrestler not accepted by Chyoo 2 let so that may be a promblem. Then again the denied version (and less well though out version) was accepted.

Hey everone,

Can we give ofhabit2 a break? He said from day 1 that this is VERY beta.

Might I suggest that you keep a local copy of your stories and threads, so that if Chyoo3 dies, or whatever, you won't lose your work.

Worse than getting a new job that doesn leave you time for coding, or losing intrest is having a bunch of whiny pricks pestering you. This was his (or her... Did we find that out yet?) experiment. If you are doing something that you think will change humanity... Chyoo.net isn't the place for it right now. Go make your own site.

So unless anyone has any alternitaves.... Enjoy what we have here.

dont think anyone being whiny pricks just asking

Nobody saying THIS SUCKS!!! FIX IT YOU AHOLE

We know it very well might not be a fix

How you managed to find that I was somehow being critical of ofhabit2 in anything I said I have no idea. To call me a "whinny prick" is silly as I was clearly not whining. I put it down to the fact that you did not actually bother to read what I wrote so I will try again.

I was merely trying to raise the issue of how a site could be managed, paid for, and guided going forward without it being dependent upon one person. That seems to be a reasonable question as one thing I know for sure is that people change, times change and there needs to be mechanism for the site to be maintained beyond the one person who created it.

What I want to see is a site that is well maintained and run for the benefit of the community of users. I am happy to help with this process to any extent that I can both financially, and with time. I was trying to start a discussion on how that community might evolve. So I will throw it out there again for some hopefully intelligent discussion.

Maybe I'm missing something... I can't navigate to any of the category pages. "Erotic Couplings" just takes me back to the home page. Am I missing something, or is that something that's just not ready yet?

Is there anyway to browse stories that arent' "top 5s"?

well cash you can allways have porn sponsers...just an idea. One of two pop ups may not be bad.

If you can possibly avoid popups please please do, other ads are just fine but I detest popups (and will block them anyways).

jakelyon - I wasn't calling you a whiny prick, and I'm sorry if it came aross that way. It was meant generally, not specifically to you.

The recent posts from everyone just seem to be complaints about the site, and that strikes a nerve with me. You did raise some good points, and in retrospect, I should have said so.

I guess what I'm looking for is some people to offer assistance with the site. We have all thrown alot of suggestions at him, and it is just one guy working on this site so far. I don't want him to feel dumped on, because if he loses interest in it, we all suffer the loss.

That's what I was trying to get across. That we need to show some support, some assistance, and then work on issues as importance dictates. Being able to post is kinda critical. Comparatively, searching stories is not. Everyone is complaining that the story import doesn't work, but how important is that right now? If it doesn't work right now... Oh well! the old stories aren't going anywhere. We'll (well... He'll) figure that out once the basics done. And even if there is never an automated import, you can do it manually. Or start a new one. (At least we can start new stories now.)

This is just a beta, and we need to recognize and accept this. There will probably be data loss at some point (there was on Chyoo2). There will be problems, glitches, and outright failures. Untill we can show a fair amount of real support, we need to keep our complaints on check.

I'm ok with linux, lousy with apache and Perl, and I don't know squat about PHP. But I'm trying to learn (just because of this). As soon as I can offer some real help, I will. But what about everyone else? There's gotta be someone out there who can actually code, or suggest technical improvements.

In re-reading my last post, it does come across a bit rough... and I'm sorry about that. I hope you can understand the intent behind the post.

I think everyone is grateful that there is a new site. Maybe someone should start a thread for anyone who wants to thank ofhabit2.

However, this thread is suppose to be where we post any problems with the site. It may sound like complaining but it is just highlighting issues so they can be resolved.

Could you put up a post on Literotica's general board asking if anyone can help you to build and code the new site?

My opinion was that people were giving helpful suggestions to him about stuff they'd like to see and stuff that didn't work. I didn't get the feeling that folks were bitching him out for them not working.
