Do you use a scene name?

I often get the name Lolita for my relation to the book.

What relation would that be?

OK, OK, let me try one:

"Alan Hertzabitch"

Being very much like the little girl in the book......always teasing her daddy

I have three names. My name here, my real name, and my name in groups that aren't sex group oriented. Most people who knew me as Gracie before they knew my real name still call me Gracie. They (most of them) say it fits me better. I've almost signed emails and stuff to my mom and Grandma a few times as Gracie. My real name is what people who know me in r/l call me. My other screne name is actually a nickname my sister used for me when we were kids. She made it up to piss me off (which it did very well). But now I kinda like it. Just like she has Missy Messy (my retalitory nickname - and one she hated equally) on her cell phone now. I guess age mellowed us out.

Usually on Lit I don't hand out my real name to someone until I'm comfortable with them. But like I said, they normally keep calling me by Gracie even after they learn my real name. Doesn't bother me. If I'd been allowed to choose my own name it would have been Grace.

Naughty little sub she was. Humbert should've taken the strap to her ass like a good daddy and she wouldn't have run off with the porn director.

"Netherdick Norlick"

"Beazle Condive"

"Nestor Corpulent"

OK, these aren't even funny anymore, I just can't stop.

“Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again. It seemed to me I stood by the iron gate leading to the drive and for a while I could not enter, for the way was barred to me”.

My scene name has always been rebecca derived from the novel of same title by Daphne du Maurier. It has the added providence for me in that rebecca also means 'bound, tied' in its Hebrew origin. :rose:

I was wondering if you would mention that.

Like a drug, aren't they?
These two are my favourite.

For any GTA people:

Gardiner Westbound.

Say it aloud - it works...

I have issues.

I started using my real name in the scene as I got more comfortable with my alternative lifestyle and the lack of implications in the real world. Now I find myself wanting to go back IN the closet as a prodomme, because my name is distinct and weird people can find the real me too easily with it.

I've used various online aliases, Netzach has been a favorite for a while I've been published under derivatives of it.

Then I have the name I run sessions under and then my own.

Schizo, I know.

A question for the pyl's that have been given a slave name. Do you prefer that people (other then your PYL) use it or your given name?

I use M Wisdom when it's BDSM related and online. My real name in r/l.
It also have a very nice double meaning for me "M. W. is dom".

I have another nickname I use on non BDSM related forums and chats.

Rebecca - how lovely. :rose:

That du Maurier novel is one of my favorites.

The Hebrew meaning of Rebecca is a perfect match for your old avatar (the elegant, bound hands). Which I miss seeing, to tell you the truth.... Not that the gem isn't pretty, and color-coordinating so nicely with the gorgeous Sydney photo....

For me I mostly prefer them to use my slave name as it is how I identify myself, and is a 24/ name as opposed to a scene one....but it isn't always possible when with some vanilla friends and family, and people who think it a little strange. :D

Catalina :rose:

I don't think that I would ever want to use a scene name.

I'm extremely touchy about nicknames and people calling me by a shortened version of my own name - "chels" for "chelsea" - it drives me NUTS. Online my friends used to call me "Chel" which didn't drive me quite so insane, but I still get, like, the fingernailsontheblackboard/heebiejeebies when someone uses a shortened version of my name. I think I'd feel the same way about a new name in a scene.

But since I'm not experienced in it, it's hard to say.

I'm not even sure what the phrase "scene name" really means.

From the responses here, some people seem to be referring to a name used when performing in public. Some refer to a special name given to them by their SO. Some refer to their Lit names.

Perhaps a "scene name" can be any and all of the above? LOL! Here I am, laughing at my own cluelessness once again!

As for me, I'm Alice - here and everywhere else. Anything else would just be too confusing, and a bother to remember what I'm supposed to be calling myself at any given time.

I think the novel Rebecca was one of the first quality romantic gothic written that made it to that status. I for one was simply enchanted by it when I was about 15. When I had to chose a scene name there is one other I loved but a dear friends daughter was called the same and I felt it was wrong (or I felt uncomfortable) .

ohhh and thank you again miss alice , the hands will return and you are correct the blue diamond was to compliment the Sydney New Years photo I chose for this time of Year. :rose:

(oooh small omission from my original post I was renamed 'aimee' for a short while in service to a Dominant. Thankfully since all others have enquired why 'rebecca' permitted me to keep it as well as using my actual birth name...lol......which alice you know.......)

To be honest, your birth name is my favorite! It is absolutely adorable, and fits your personality perfectly.

:)

I would use a "name" if I were in a scene which I'm feeling more and more like I want to make happen for me. How fucking selfish is that?

Fury

Um, I've totally changed my mind about this. I'm using my real first name and no last name atm.

Fury :rose:

I use "Mecha" when meeting Litsters until I'm comfortable with them and in strip clubs, I give another name.

However, my real name is Slutbun Wallah.

Scene name = an alias used by some people in the BDSM lifestyle ("the Scene") to protect their privacy, a name given out to others in the lifestyle in the place of given or "real" names.

In my own case, for many years I used "LordHamiltonZ" as a Scene name. It came about thusly...

I wanted to protect my privacy when I got involved in the scene. I started using a "nom de plume" that I used many times while making up references for papers... Hamilton Zander. I figured I could remember that and respond to it when someone addressed me that way. After a couple of months I wanted something that had an old world flair, so it became Hamilton vanZander which very quickly got shortened to HamiltonZ.

After being involved in a certain circle for quite a while, I was awarded the title "Lord" within that particular group. Because so many people knew me at that point the LordHamiltonZ became the Scene nick, and stayed that way for several years. My involvement in the lifestyle was an issue in my divorce, my right to visit my children was contingent on my not exposing them to this lifestyle and I continued using that Scene name until my children were no longer minors.

Truth be told, I was comfortable in my own skin long before my youngest turned 18. I was itching to get out of the Scene name (which really made me feel silly to use at that point even though I had been using it for years). I was ready to be "out" and once my youngest turned 18, LordHamiltonZ got "retired".

I've been Evil_Geoff ever since, mostly because my real name, just plain, no additives, Geoff, has been locked up and in use on every forum I've ever bothered trying to reserve a name on. Tacking "Evil" on it is a comment about my chosen lifestyle and proclivities as a sadist is not an attemtp to hide my real identity. I use my own pic as my av, who the hell can I hide from??? *grin*

And there, as Paul Harvey likes to say, is the rest of the story.
