Uh! Don't ya'll think I can be assertive? Huh? I can! Sometimes.

No. You're a wimp. Like me. You're feisty but you don't have the killer instinct. Like you know who.

Oh, I can kill with the best of them. I'm evil. I've a terror. Grr! Ruff ruff! pant, pant, pant. eee! eee! eee!
After a few minutes of this, I can usually work myself up into, at least, a bitch slapping mood.
Don't you think you know who is a bit too young to have such a lethal attitude? Of course, I've heard that baby snakes are more venomous.

I'm betting she won't mellow. One of my goals in life is to have her take care of me in my declining years because who can say no to her? She'll rule the world.

And are you bitch slapping ee again?

Are we in our declining years, yet? I'm okay with being put into a nursing home as long as they have a few hot, old guys there.
Am I suppose to be bitch slapping ee? Ask him if he thinks he deserves it. I'm saving up a special bitch slap for him.

What man doesn't deserve a good bitch slap now and again? And I just know you bitch slap exquisitely.

OK, time to be assertive, again. :catroar:
  1. Only new and previously unposted poems can be submitted for the contest thread.
  2. Everyone is allowed to submit poems for the contest, but moderators will not be able to vote.
  3. Each person can only submit up to three poems for the contest thread.
  4. There will be a non-competitive thread, where everyone can post older poems, or pieces he or she does not wish to be part of the contest.
Any questions?

Humble suggestion to move this to the official contest thread. Many will not wade through this one :)

Anyway, I've decided to be obsessed with Yeats this week, in honor of St. Paddy's day and all wonderful Irish men, but one in particular. ;)

You should be obsessed with yeats..Period

I'm such a Gemini. Like Yeats.

Hmmmmm.
So it would be:

I will arise and go now, and go to Trenton,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made
By da oil refineries
Oy vey
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honeybee,
and Me and Sly and 3 toed Sal
Will sing our odes to Springsteen

I will be out of commission for at least part of tomorrow, but Lauren is going to poems the entries in a poll for us.

 Lauren.

We're going to extend the deadline for another week, until the 30th. Everything else stays the same as previously defined.

Up until now, with a little over 12 hours to go until the original deadline, we had only received 7 entries, which is very disheartening. It seems that March is a slow month for a number of reasons, but even so, with this kind of participation even when Laurel and Manu are kind enough to offer prizes, it's no wonder there aren't any poetry contests at Literotica.

i don't think it was clear that entries do NOT have to try to emulate smithpeter's writing. they merely have to be inspired by one of his many poems.

it is a daunting task to attempt to bend one's writing to another instead of being yourself. i have a feeling that lack of understanding may have made some poets shy away.

just a thought.

Absolutely, Pat!

The idea is definitely not to mimic smithpeter's style. The contest entries are your poetry, who you are, and that finding that personal voice was one of the things he stood for.

All we ask is for you to read his poetry in search of something that will spark your own poem: a sentiment, a concept, an image. All of a sudden, passionately. Let it rip.

Lauren,

The response to the other contests can not be discounted. This is new idea, I certainly do not think it would be fair to make such generalizations about the poetry contests.

We have to remember: For people to FIND the poetry at literotica is a miracle, it is not even mentioned on the opening page, and on the story page it is in the basement.....

and if they happen to find poetry, to find the BOARDS is another miracle indeed.

I found the boards only after a poem was mentioned in the reviews.

Story contests are BOLD and prominent on the opening pages. Before any judgements are made about the success and failure of poetry contests, hopefully they will be given the same placement as the stories are.

Literotica is a money making business and people come here for us, for the writers. I do not think it is too unreasonable.

This was a difficult contest. I think it was a good idea, but still, difficult.

Spanking people rarely makes them write poetry. Encouragement and reminders help.

So if you are sitting on a poem for the contest, send it in, please! Mine is a stretch, and I know other people have been apprehensive.

It is difficult to try to respond to poetry when there is SO MUCH out there!

I look forward to reading all of the entries.

I started writing this reply before taking my sick kid to the doctor... so maybe I am repeating other responses.
