I love bananas--platonically.
I wonder if Lauren realizes that a Lesbian Orange poem is begging to be written.

So, you're excited by the thought of a lesbian with a skin condition just as long as she's begging?
I'm writing my lesbian orange poem now. I may not share it though.

I'm excited by the thought of anything begging at my age

A debt collector calls and begs for your past due payment at blockbuster. She sounds like Abe Vigoda but she's begging. You never pay the bill. She calls you again and again and...

Home-Thoughts, From Abroad
Robert Browning.

I.
Oh, to be in England
Now that April's there,
And whoever wakes in England
Sees, some morning, unaware,
That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf,
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough
In England--now!!

II.
And after April, when May follows,
And the whitethroat builds, and all the swallows!
Hark, where my blossomed pear-tree in the hedge
Leans to the field and scatters on the clover
Blossoms and dewdrops--at the bent spray's edge--
That's the wise thrush; he sings each song twice over,
Lest you should think he never could recapture
The first fine careless rapture!
And though the fields look rough with hoary dew,
All will be gay when noontide wakes anew
The buttercups, the little children's dower
--Far brighter than this gaudy melon-flower!

Just a reminder that today, April 6, is the deadline for voting on the semifinals for the March poetry contest. If you haven't voted yet, please check out these wonderful poems and vote for your favorite in each poll. The finalists' poems will be posted after 6 pm est.

Unnnh. . . The polls list various times on April 7th. Aren't you chopping a day off? Or did I forget to set my calendar ahead a day? Are we on Day Saving time?? :)

That is because when you set a poll, you are given a choice of days you wish the poll to be active, not times.

In order to make sure that you could vote through the end of April 6th, they had to set the number of days the poll was open up until 7th.

This happened at the Feb contest as well, and I got the same question. Just go with the info on the thread, not the info on the poll itself, there is no way to make them exact.

I set the polls up one week ago today--I believe the last one (poll 4) went up about 10:30 at night, so as of that time tonight everyone will have had seven days to read and vote. As anna said, I'm not sure why it shows the date later than the actual posting and not the time.

I'm thinking I'll get the finalist polls set up tonight (after 10:30 est), and then there will be a week in which the finalists can vote (for any poem but their own) via pm to The Poets. The two highest-scoring poems from each poll will make it to the finals. I haven't looked at them for a few days so if there are ties within polls at the time they close, we'll figure out what to do then. :)

But Anna. . . Poll 4 says: "This poll will close on 04-07-2005 at 02:25 PM". It says "on", not "before" or "until"! Are the immoderators so busy playing with Manuel and eating lesbian oranges (with which nothing rhymes, only rinds), that they don't know what day it is???
Maybe they should play with lesbian dates instead of oranges! :p :rose: :p

I nominate you to do the next contest, you really seem to have everything figured out!

Can't wait to see how you get all of the polls up simulaneously at exactly midnight so that they all have the same exact time that is automatically added.

Besides, if the light is stuck on red, and the policeman is waving you on to go, and there is not another car in site do you listen to the light or the human being in charge and your own reason?

besides, this is not tax day. There is not a line at the door for people who were planning on voting at the last minute as stated on the polls. Don't worry so much.

It's ok. The fish loves me. Really he does and I know it. :)

Fishie, all I can say to you is it's alotta work putting those babies together and you do it all and then the poll says a day later than it should after you post it. And frankly at that point the last thing I wanted to do was go back and try it all over again. However I am not opposed to waiting till the 7th if you or anyone else would like to vote then.

And I don't have an orange. I have a bagel.

:D
