That seems a very sensible response.
To my mind, this situation has to be based on a convenient arrangement, not an emotional entanglement, if it is to work. As I see it, emotion carries with it the risk of supplanting and replacing the marriage. As soon as the L-word comes up, whether said or thought, there's trouble looming.
