Say Something

Or if you just want to talk and not read, you could introduce yourself, tell what the accent is that you have and if there's something else you think is noteworthy about the way you speak. Then wish people a nice day and sign out.

That's been a popular concept before, but the recordings have mostly expired. :)

I'm now noticing that you Americans must find it a bit odd that over here there can be a stark and noticeable difference in dialect and accent just from town-to-town, rather than state-to-state.

I don't really find it odd. That happens here too. I grew up in a weird mix of beach, city and southern accents. 2/3 of the population here wasn't born and raised here so the accents change depending on the concentration of people in the area. State-to-state accents are most noticeable but within each state there are variations too.

I notice there's a significant difference in accents just crossing the county line into the city.

Your Missouri drawl is not at all unpleasant. In fact, I didn't notice an especially heavy variance from standard Midwest speech. Nice choice of reading, by the way. :rose:

Thanks  I was limited in my reading selection, most of my books are packed up from when we were sharing our room with two babies. I need to pull them back out actually....

We are on a site where there is some stuff to read.

:D

We probably have to get the author's permission though, which is fair but not speedy.

MWY, is ribbon open to a borrowed couple of lines, for example

Oh my, are you suggesting I read some Lit stories?

I would be honored if you chose to record a line or two from my story. :rose:

I sound like a teenaged boy :rolleyes::eek:

"Hello, dearest..."

"sawsage" you guys cannot handle my brand of NY.

MD, you sound a bit like NO when she is disapproving of me.

I like your voice, and I like your selection.

Thank you. :rose:

I like your voice, very warm and friendly. And I don't think you have any particular drawl either, not a strong one anyways. :)

Thanks

Haha, disapproving of you, when does that ever happen.

NO disapproves of me quite often. I can tell by her tone when she calls me "Dearest". Once she called me "Dear heart..." Fuck me, I knew I was in trouble then.

Hahaha, sausage is one of the words G teases me about how I say. My English accent is VERY softened from how it was when I was at school, but it seems to stick on sausage in how I used to speak . :)

It's pronounced SAWsaaage.

On what planet?

Everyone knows it's pronounced " Sassitch " :D
