Valentines Day Contest Support Thread.

Every time I sit down to 'upgrade' and 'edit' my Valentine's Day story it just gets more and more perverted. It started kind of cute and by now it's.. Questionable at best. 😅 But at least there's a few days left until the 12th, so perhaps I can still salvage it.
I know the feeling! Though my current one I'm kinda going the other way round, adding more romance and getting together, to a story of filth.

I want to submit reasonably early just to have a chance of sufficient votes - my Christmas one still hasn't had 25! That was in Novellas, but the Gay Male readership don't vote much either - but IME are reasonably generous when they do.

Mine's a cute tale being turned into a kink-fest. Yours is a filthy tale with added romance. Mine's going into Lesbian, yours into Gay Male. Seems you're the yin to my yang. 💙

How about we put the yin and yang together for next time?! Let's see how surreal the combo might be...

You have my attention. ☺️ I am always up for a challenge of any kind! That's a big part of why I enter the contests and events in the first place; to try new things, experiment a little bit, and thereby grow as a writer. Just slide into my DM's anytime you wish and tell me what you had in mind.

We're doing Valentine's Day stories but no Steak and Blowjob Day stories (March 14th). A little short sighted for the Lit team, I think

Don't let that stop you! Steak and a Blow Job Day was my Valentine's entry in 2022.

Plot summary:
"Do you know what the best thing about me being gay is? You don't have to wait for March for Steak and a Blow Job Day, because Valentine's Day is Steak and a Blow Job Day!"

I stand corrected. Still seemed like the perfect opportunity as there are no events scheduled in March.

Both the 750 word challenge and Pink Orchid go live in March (1st and 8th), with the deadline being 28 and 29th February.

The April Fool official contest has a deadline of mid-March and winners posted end March.

Mine is with my venerable editor, so crossing my fingers he is done with it in time but im pretty confident.

I wrote a doozy (from my perspective) of 13k words. I usually cap a story off as a multi part after 8k simply to make it digestible. I know everyone doesn't do that but its just my style.

Now, young lady, just what have you been doing with that fingertip, anyway?
BTW, trying to write an entire story on a smart phone boggles my mind. My hat's off to you.
Pfft. It's not hard... just annoying. For me, anyway, seeing as I have hands that can palm a regulation NBA basketball. It is convenient compared to lugging a laptop everywhere. I wish I had a tablet or Samsung kept making the Mega, or at least a Note.

Super excited about my entry and was able to get it finished in time. Just really enjoyed writing this one with some fun characters. Hopefully it makes it past the screen for the first day!

Mine passsed the AI minefield and will publish Jan, 12.
I believe, with nothing to support my belief, that well established writers are probably less likely to be scrutinized and run through an AI screen than a newcomer, much like established writers’ stories seem to be published quicker than newcomers’ stories. Plus I doubt AI can do a tentacle monster justice.

Argh, mine is coming together super slow, and it's going to be far too long with way too much military stuff (readers don't like military erotica) but I'm having fun.

I don’t know. I have heard about authors of some years standing even having their back catalogs pulled for AI. Then maybe the original sin is a new submission.

My stories are written so poorly that no self-respecting AI could have possibly penned them. AI writes bland, predictable, rules-based prose. I’m ahead of the game of staying relevant by writing crap in a bad style. It’s the new reality if you want to survive the rise of the machines.
