Valentines Day Contest Support Thread.

Not a very long list!
No, but my understanding is that more will post as the days go on. I've heard some rumbling that there could be well over a hundred submissions to this contest (but that is purely speculation from other Literorica authors).

By the way, I read yours! It's beautiful!!!! 5 Stars!!!!!! I commented, but there is a lag time for it to be reviewed before it shows up.

The story that I am considering for the contest is full of "no-no's", or at least, "better not's".

  1. Father/Daughter incest
  2. Daughter is unfaithful to her husband
  3. Scenes of anal sex
  4. It is out of the comfort zone for a lot of my followers

I won't be expecting high scores or rave reviews, but it is a good story.

Aw yay! Thanks so much I’m glad you liked it :)

So far kinda slow going for me. But I think thats the nature of Sci-fi/fantasy. Hopefully will pick up more views/votes as we go.

Mine's up. It's more straightforward than the stuff I've been doing lately, and a lot more trope-y.

We'll see what happens!

So do Valentines Day contest readers look for more heart felt and warm endings?

All my best-scoring VDay works have had endings that, if not happy or warm, reflect a bit of depth in the characters' relationship. "Heartfelt" is probably a good word to use.

Then again, I don't know if that's unique to VDay stories, really. There's a very appreciative demographic among readers who look for a little complexity in their characters, and stories with complicated characters virtually demand a complicated ending.

Complexity aside i went for a less than happy ending so Im curious about reception and expectations.

"Breeding Mom" was just posted in Group Sex. Mom gets dumped on Valentine's Day, and her thoughtful son and his friends do what they can to cheer her up.

Loved it!!! 5 stars, for sure!!!! Older woman and younger man... You got my attention!! :)

Well thank you! It was fun to write. Like I said, a little "trope-ier" than what I've been doing lately. I thought about all those teacher/student flings in the news and wondered, "hmm. I wonder what the parents think when they hear about all the sordid details in court..."

It's something I might explore a bit more down the road. Like the story where a parent sees their offspring in a porn video, but more formalized. And, of course, much more public.

This is the first time that I can remember when one of my stories got posted on a weekend day, and a Sunday no less!

I submitted it on Friday, expecting it to show up as published some day next week. A nice surprise to see it so soon.

I finally got my Valentines Day entry finished. Like @MelissaBaby I'm excluded from the podium, but I love to play the game.

Friend Zoned is the story of a lonely American GI in Korea who meets the girl of his dreams. She's black, which was no biggie, but she's also lesbian. That's a game changer.

I wrote this one to put a lot of the silly things that happened to me while I was assigned to Kunsan Air Base into a story. The part about the nukes, it happened. Getting run over by helicopters was true too. So was the "broken gun" and the space shuttle data. Getting the set of orders to a base that he wanted? That's pure fantasy. It never happened to me in 20 years.

Just submitted a second one and have nearly finished writing one to submit in the sr71plt account.

Well, I guess for this one my take away is the readership is not onboard with the wackiness and general chaos of my stories lol i’m surprised thus far but I am happy with the story I made and thats what counts.

… I’ll just sob over in this corner over here LOL

It's early yet. For those of us who submit at the beginning of the window, these things are a marathon, not a sprint.

Lol. A fragment of a lengthy comment on my story:

"Also, reading about a 'reddened, soupy vag' goes beyond lacking class and elegance."

Well, yes. I agree, in fact. The theme I was going for was not "class and elegance." So thank you, gentle reader. Except that he copped to leaving a 1* for that, which I thought was a bit extreme in a story lasting 25,086 words.

So funny.
