🎡 Monthly Song Challenge 🎡

Beautiful choice! The vibes were actually perfect for me shortly after waking up this morning πŸ˜‚

I would love to see Heilung when they tour the States but I'm a bit nervous about the crowd. There's a segment of American fascists who are really into Norse/Viking things πŸ˜” Hopefully I'm just being paranoid.
I don’t know if it’s valid but I feel the same way.

Day 7 - a song that was a #1 hit

You know, for all my busting of @PrettyLilPussy19 over Creed, I went through a not insignificant Matchbox 20 phase when they were big. I had no idea this hit #1 for a week until I went back and looked, and it's definitely not their best song by a mile, but it's good, and has Rob Thomas doing a lot of Rob Thomas things in this video. πŸ˜…

Sooooooo......this is probably my favorite Matchbox 20 song... I'll sing it at the top of my lungs any day

Day 8 - A song that mentions or is about a historic event.

This is one of those songs that I thought captured some of the earliest cross over of people realizing that 'the system' - the justice system, corporate America, etc, were all rigged against working people. And that the Rodney King case wasn't *just* about one guy getting viciously beaten by the police. 30 years later, aint a damn thing changed.

Day 8: A song that mentions or is about a historical event

I ignored my first choice which mentions dozens of historical events (in chronological order!!) because I've used it before (but I do secretly hope someone picks it still) and this song came to mind. It's not actually about going to the moon and yet the metaphor is brilliant to me.

Man On The Moon - REM

Day 8: A song that mentions or is about an historic event

My daughter will be a firefighter. This has kept me up at night on more than a few occasions.

This song by Yellowcard, my favorite band with a rhythm violinist, was written in honor of 344 firefighters who perished in the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001 running back into the buildings to save others at the cost of their own lives.

Think about the love inside the strength of heart
Think about the heroes saving life in the dark
Climbing higher, through the fire
Time was running out
Never knowing you weren't going to be coming down alive
But you still came back for me

You were strong and you believed
Everything is going to be alright
Everything is going to be alright
Everything is going to be alright
Be strong, believe

This song is sad and joyous and hopeful and ....fuck, everything. It is a beautiful memorial to the idea that there is no greater love than to lay down your life for others. I love my daughter more than I can ever put into words. She is an amazing woman, and taking on this aegis has been her life's goal since she was in kindergarten -- she never wavered. I have always been proud of her, for just being her, but this at times fills me to bursting.

And has kept me up at night on more than a few occasions.

"Believe," Yellowcard

I remember someone else posting it for another prompt and thinking it was brilliant back then too, but I thought it may have been @Whiskeyjack
I know I've used that song before, maybe a month or two ago. I'm upstairs, sick in bed, and my laptop with my beautiful spreadsheet is downstairs, so I don't know exactly when it was or for which prompt.
