2005 Weight Loss Challenge- Winter edition

I usually aim for between 1200 and 1500 calories/day, that works pretty well for me. I haven't started working out yet, partly because I'm lazy and partly because I'm really sick with the flu. Who knows, maybe I'll lose weight while I'm sick... :p

I am trying to keep it around 1200 calories a day doing ok so far but its only been two days...lol

I've started a little journal in wordperfect. Not an eating one, but more of a workout journal, and once a week weigh in on Sunday morning.

I am also starting a journal about what i have eaten and what kinda workout i am doing. Just so i can know when and if i go wrong...lol.

And for those of you that get cravings for sweet and or just cravings .........I got these small granola bars with chocolate chips that are only 120 calories and they tend to take the edge off. Not for those that are carb counting though only 4g fat but 21g carbs. They are my life line when i feel like i really need something...they take away the cravings and help to satisfy the sweet tooth without being overly bad.

A little joke to lighten things up

Guy sees an ad in the paper advertising a guaranteed loss of 10 pounds in just 2 sessions at this new diet place, so he decides to try it out.

He goes to the place and meets with the receptionist who tells him to go in the next room and disrobe. He thinks this is a bit strange but complies.

He stands there for a minute in a room full of furniture, fully naked, and feeling a bit awkward, when all of a sudden an extremely beautiful, tremendously stacked tall blonde walks in totally nude. She says: "If you catch me, you can fcuk me."

He wastes no time in chasing the blonde all over the room, around the furniture, back and forth, around and around. Being out of shape, he simply cannot catch the very fit blonde but sure does enjoy watching her firm ass wiggle in front of him so he continues to run, till he finally gives up, exhausted.

He goes home disappointed but very worked out and the next day finds that he has lost 5 pounds, so he decides to go back again in a few days.

A few days later he goes back to the diet place, goes back in the room and disrobes. He gets the bright idea that if he were to move the furniture all over to one corner of the room he would have a better chance at catching the beautiful blonde, so he moves everything piled into one corner.

So now he is standing in a big open space when a HUGE behemoth of a man with a giant raging hard-on walks in and says: "If I catch you, I get to fuck you!

Francisco.

I haven’t felt that well this week either. It has been unusually warm, and I do fear getting sick when Winter does rear its ugly head in the coming weeks, but Spring is around the corner.

I like having a focal point, a set date, rather than keeping this open ended. Twelve to fourteen weeks is about span of attention when it comes to working out anyway. We will start a new one in April which will take us to Summer.

So far this week, I'm drinking less regular soda. Still eating chocolate. (Don't think I'll EVER give that up.) I haven't really changed my diet yet.

I worked out my arms a few days ago. Yesterday and today, however, I've killed myself shoveling snow, so I think that counts as my workout. Tomorrow night I'm going swing dancing with a girlfriend. Fun and Sweaty!

I hope you feel better, Etoile. Keep it up and good luck to the rest of you!

I am finally feeling semi human today. I weighed myself last night and I was up several pounds, which I find difficult to believe. Oh well. On second thought, I'm not feeling 100% human, maybe I'll go back to sleep.

Hi everyone, I'm glad to see we have another one of these threads going. :)
I started my diet back up on Monday and so far am really excited to be back on.
I'm still doing WW, though I don't attend the meetings or pay for it any longer. I bought the books and materials and have pretty much done it on my own for the last couple of months. (minus the few weeks I fell off the wagon).
Ez has been an amazing help throughout the entire thing. Having a positive motivation system, who can threaten punishment as well at times ;) .. is a great thing.
I forunately was fairly lucky over the holidays .. while I didn't continue to lose, I gained only a little, most of which I've managed to work off in this first week.
Best addition I think is I'm starting to feel like I actually like exercising. I used to hate it, but now I hate going a day without some kind of it. It's a huge stress reliever.

Anyways.. enough rambling. Looking forward to following the thread and posting progress as well. :)

I was under by 2.2 pounds this morning. I think partly because it was one of those "good" weighing mornings, but I'll take it. I'm still getting up to speed on the Nordic track. It might be another week before I can do 20 minutes without taking breaks. About 25 minutes every other day is all you need with one of those. I'm also ready to start another Pilate dvd. The 20 minute one is too easy.

I won't weigh in until later this week but after my first karate class i have been sore for three days. So maybe its working...but at least i can walk sort of normal today...lol. I hope to get another class on monday and i have a woodbreaking class on thursday so hopefully i will be down a couple of pounds by then.

And for all those who are working out, i have been told it gets easier after the initial shock.

Zaudika,

Excellent! I agree, I love going to the gym, but my subscription ran out. I'll start it back up again soon.

Pleasantly sweaty is good, regardless of how you get there!

I do winsor which are overpriced, but at one time, you could buy a set and resale ones you didn't want on ebay and break even. I've got the advanced 50 minute workout, and the 20 minute side kick, and a maximum burn 50 minute one I won't attempt for months. If I stick with it. It is usually the first workout I quit, but I do think it tightens the butt and midsection and increases flexibility.

My week went well, for the most part. I'm doing the WW points by myself with a calculator that I found on ebay. I'm still breastfeeding, so I've set the points at 30 to start. I feel like I've lost a little weight but I'm not sure since I didn't weigh in last week.
Sometimes it's hard for me to find time to work out. About the only opportunity I have to myself is when the kids are napping, and there is a lot I need to get done in that time. Either I am going to have to get more organized or I will have to start waking up early to excersize (bleh).

Maybe we should practice isometrics while posting on Lit? Anytime you're writing, suck in your gut for the entire time you type. Not much, but better than nothing!

Oh, I have to join this. I unintentionally lost around 8lbs over Christmas from being so ill with Quinsy. It's been the only upside to my Christmas so I'm going to use it to kick start my New Year regime. *not a diet, I'm not on a diet*

You might try one of those big fitness balls. And just get 5 minutes on it here and there when the kids are occupied.

Well thank you WD.

I think they are on sale at Walmart this week, so I will check them out.

10 pounds a week isn't a safe rate of loss, though. 2 pounds/week is generally considered the best rate, a little more won't hurt, but 10 pounds is way TOO much. It may have just been water weight, though; I'm sure you'll balance out.

Thanks i hope so, its probably more because of the fact that i used to eat like 3000 calories a day and have cut it in half in addition to exercise. Also as i begin to gain muscle it will definitely even out a bit.

Congratulations! The first few weeks I always loose a lot, then it slows down to one or two lbs a week.
