Drec:

IC: "We could stay another night but I would like to check up on that well we passed coming in. Did we use half of our time limit traveling here? I lost count Ezmi."

OOC: This is your fourth day since leaving the city. The time limit is 10, but you get a bonus if you arrive early. Cats, you invented the well. I didn't say anything about it. You're welcome to go searching, though. You might find something... interesting...

IC: The alchemist nods. "I'd not mind a bit of company for the day, though ye'd have to give me a hand with my work. With the extra assistance, I might brew up a batch of anti-toxin. Whatever bonus you and the hag have agreed upon has got nought to do with me." He turns to Drec, looking a little surprised. "There's no well outside, lad, though I've heard tell of an enchanted spring a bit of a ways further up the path. Never seen it meself, though."

Drec

OOC: I call it a running gag.

IC: "Enchanted spring? What is enchanted about it?" I asked in ernest curosity.

Thor hears the dull thud as the door quickly springs open. Thor steps through as the old man slowly gets to his feet.

"I was just about to wake ye to break fast, but it seems ye were awake already. I must remember to do something about that door. It opens too fast."

"Sorry about that friend the smell of food has captured me."

He helps the old man the rest of the way to his feet and apoligizes again. Thor for the first time this morning looks around the big main room and sees that most of the objects here last night had dissapeared and the vat was empty. The table , which now held the burner slowly working away at the potion, cacthes Thors eyes. He looks away as the rest of the group awakens and steps out into the main room. The old man waves them all into the room from which the smell had been drifting from.

"So do you cook Alchemist." Turning to the dwarf. "If you hadn't open the door and hit him, I probably would of."

Thor chuckles softly under his breath as he follows the group.

"Forget the food, do you have any restoratives from spider venom laying about?"

The old man grumbles at Drec: "I'm feeding ye breakfast and you're conspiring to hit me with doors. Young folk these days. Totally mad." In response to Ezmi's query, he shakes his head. "I'm sorry lass. If ye'd have let me know last night I might have been able to brew something up, but I've got no antivenom in stock right now. Wizardry's of little use in healing folk."

Breakfast is served and consists of freshly baked bread, cheese and fruit, as well as some boiled eggs. The items whirl through the air, carried about by unseen forces until everyone is served.

Thor grumbles at the flying food as it fills his plate, before it finishes he shovels handfulls into his mouth. He eats the food quickly and hungruly as Ezmi and drec talks with the old man.

"It is well okay, I had not felt my impending aches the night before, would it jeopardize our bonus too much if we stayed another night, with your allowance, that is, generous host."

"We could stay another night but I would like to check up on that well we passed coming in. Did we use half of our time limit traveling here? I lost count Ezmi."

"Enchanted spring? What is enchanted about it?" I asked in ernest curosity.

Thor stops eating for a second and turns toward the others.

"If you need help around here I could be of assistance. For one I could look at that door for you, I am a bit of a woodcrafter."

Thor resumes eating and waits for an answer.

The old man looks speculative. "Well, I suppose ye could look at the door, and I've got a bench with a broken leg in the other room. I can't pay ye anything save room, board and perhaps a vial of antivenom."

As for Drec's question, he shakes his head thoughtfully, "I don't put great stock in the tales but legend has it that the spring was once the property of an ancient god and that the if the right person reaches and drinks from it, they receive a blessing. Tis probably half a day's journey up the hill to reach the cave with the spring."

Drec:

IC: "Interesting, 1 day there and back?" I reflected carefuly "How much help do you need? Also are we likely to be attacked by spiders on the way back?"

"I certainly hope not, I have had my fill of the hairy beasts." Ezmi grumbles over the thought of facing more spiders. "Right person...? Do you remember which god this spring was dedicated to? Not that I am thinking any of us are the right person, right?"

Drec

IC: "No I am resonably sure your the right person Ezmi. After all you've always been right to me." Holds up hands thumbs out. "Wait, my mistake your on the left. First time for everything."

Ezmi gave Drec a humored smile. "Thank you Drec, its always good to know you appreciate me that much."

The old man shrugs, "Ye should be safe enough. Mind ye, I'd not heard of folks being attacked by spiders around here before either."

He smiles at Ezmi and Drec's banter and heads away from the table toward the main room and his workbench.

The dwarf chuckles at the old mans response to his offer of fixing the door and table.

"Room, board, and a vial of antivenum!! Pah these skilled hands are worth much more then that friend. Besides isent the room and board in order to smuggle your goods....work or no work I would still be getting your room and board. As to the vial of antivenom I doubt any spider could get close enough!!"

He finishes by patting his twin dwarven axes tucked into his belt.

"I'll do it for a few gold pieces but no less!!!"

The alchemist takes out a set of small vials and begins to decant the finished catalyst into them.

"My skills are worth quite a bit as well," he responds to Thor. "I suppose I could give you a few coins instead of the antivenom, since you seem to eschew it so firmly. Perhaps 5 gold coins would suit you? I'm afraid that if you were to demand any more, I would simply do the work myself." His tone is light, but his accent has disappeared again.

Thor nods politely at the the old man as he watches him finish the mixture.

"That will be enough...and I did not imply you werent skilled mate."

He turns to the to the others and speaks breifly with them.

"So what is it that you two will be doing?"

The old man mutters some form of gruff agreement as he busily corks and seals the vials. Grabbing Cassandra's boots he does something (Spot check to see what) to make the heels pop off, slides a vial into each and then twists them back on. He turns to Ezmi and Leanna: "If you're staying another day, I'll do yours right before ye go. No point walking on the potion longer than ye have to."

Unless I receive a post saying otherwise within 24 hours, I'll assume that the whole group stays one more night and day, with Thor doing some woodwork and Ezmi lending some alchemical assistance.

OOC: cats, let me know if Drec is going to investigate that spring. Elayne, what's Leanna doing? I'll assume nothing special if I don't get a post.

Ezmi and Leanna spend the day assisting the alchemist, lending a hand with his experiments and learning some techniques. (They each gain 1 rank in Alchemy). The alchemist also gives Ezmi a vial of antivenom for her troubles.

Thor manages to repair the door and the other bench, gaining more experience with his tools (+1 rank of woodcrafting) and earning 5gp.

Drec relaxes for the day and dispels the last of the effects of the spider venom.

The next morning, the group is ready to depart. (Unless someone wants to investigate the spring, they head back towards the city.)

The trip down to the village of Adaran is uneventful. The people in the village pay you less heed this time, given your previous innocuous visit. Most of them appear to be busy with their daily tasks, chopping wood, tending gardens and animals and baking bread. Fewer people are around as the hunters and trappers are all out in the forest, plying their trades.

OOC: I'm going on a family vacation in a few days and will likely be without internet for two weeks (I'm sorry!!). My folks are really keen on having me come and the cabin is pretty isolated so I guess this thread will have to have a minor hiatus again. (I had really hoped to at least finish the first quest). I should at least be able to post again once before heading off, so please keep playing for now...

(OCC: Got a queston....Is the city we are bringing the vials to the one we are in or the one the adventure started in? Either way I'm fine with skipping ahead to whatever city or finding the guild.)

Drec:

OOC: I haven't been in the mood to turn on my computer sorry. But I should be on for that last post. I have no need to check the spring. After all I am told splitting the party is bad.

IC: We walked back threw the city. "I swear, it was right here. Surrounded by all sorts of strong looking people. Mind you they weren't mean looking but still I wouldn't want to fight them. But now its gone. Ezmi, I am sure you have something to do with this vanishing well."

OOC: Once more running gag. We can do the spring later, next visit I supose.

OOC: You're currently in a town (a couple orders of magnitude smaller than the city that you came from). The city of origin is also the destination. I won't skip quite as far as that, but I could see dropping the narration for a few days of travel. First, however, I'll need spot and listen checks from the whole party...I'll tell you why when I return. (*gasp* Cliffhanger. I'm an evil bastard!)

(Spot natural 1, 5. Listen 12.) You ever buy a DnD book and start looking for places to use it?

Ezmirylda

Ezmi attempted to memorize the process the old alchemist used to make her her antivenom, so that she can make some in the future, if need be.

Alchemy Roll(1d20)+3:4 Total:7

Then takes the stuff, to expunge the last of the venom in her system.

Listen Roll(1d20)+4:19,+4 Total:23

Spot Roll(1d20)+1:5,+1 Total:6

"Now Drec, where do you think I might have hidden it? Under my skirts? Please... You may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but you're certainly not that unintelligent."

OOC: I'm back from my vacation, which was totally unrelaxing due to major allergies to something in the cabin. I'm such a city slicker.

IC: Ezmi and Thor hear rustling in the bushes not too far away and Leanna sees a flash of gray fur as a big wolf with red eyes jumps out of the concealing brush. It seems to have something in a case strapped to its back and is wearing a collar, but it's also foaming pretty heavily at the mouth and its eyes are glowing menacingly. Drec is taken by surprise. Roll for initiative
OOC: (Basically to determine pre or post worg)
