Here it's not common to be able to do that, at least not longer than the first 3 years of kids.

SAH really isn't for everyone. Among my friends I have very few who'd even want that. (And one of them would use it for homesteading.)

Oh, I am! It was a little challenging in the beginning. I had to learn to separate Bunny from Grace while we are in the office. Things are good now.

Our kids are out on their own now. We've made some lifestyle adjustments to make this work and I couldn't be happier .... And I have a lot of fun with it!

Here it's been harder since couples were not taxed as couples anymore (which changed in early 80s) so there's no tax relief for supporting your spouse, too. One middle class salary doesn't really make for a middle class living for 2.

I completely understand. We chose, early on in our marriage, to not get into heavy debt. We didn't drive the newest car, or the name brand clothes. Lots of Ramen too. We focused on the kids, paying off the mortgage, and now? We're set... It's not fancy living, but it's perfect for us.
