the thing to remember here, before someone jumps on the bandwagon against "emotional attachments", is that there are different kinds of love.
We're not talking about the "falling in love" kind of love here.
We're talking about friendship love. The "I love you, but I'm not IN love with you" love. Personally, I can't have sex with someone I have no feelings for whatsoever. I guess that's why I've never had a "one-night-stand". Not for me.
My "friend with bennies" is/will be someone who I can talk to, share things with, have fun with.. just like being one of my girlfriends, only he's a guy so I can have sex with him, lol.

Oh, I think you captured it perfectly. Perhaps the angst over the term FB is due to not giving enough emphasis to the "Buddy" part. My one and only was a fabulous experience ... full of caring, sharing and enlightenment. The "F" part of the equation disappeared years ago due to too many complications in our lives. And while I dream of another fling, I cherish the "B" part that still exists today.

I had one. We work together and had became friends and there was sexual tension between us. One day he called me up and and told me how he had wanted to be with me for quite awhile. He taught me alot of things. He helped me to realize what I want/like in a sexual way. Both of us are divorced, he wants to have nothing to do with commitment, marriage or even serious relationship, but wants sex. I had been burned many times and being a single parent of a young child I had not had sex in years and really hadn't wanted it. I was too busy raising my child on my own and wanted to be the best parent possible. I liked the attention that he showered on me and how he made me feel that I was beautiful and desirable. So when he first asked me to be his fuck buddy I agreed, but did not know how it worked or what to expect. I started to have feelings for him, but quickly realize I would lose him totally if I let those feelings grow. But after setting all the boundaries and realizing that we were there just to fulfill each other sexual needs and possibly some fantasies, it was great! We still work together and are still the best of friends. But there would never be a regular relationship to develop between us. The most important thing for these relationship is to find out exactly what each partner is wanting/needing. Keep those lines of communications open and enjoy his/her company but with no strings attached. To some ppl this is a godsend, others prefer not to have this kind of relationship, because they do not want sex simply for sex. They want it to be something special between two ppl. You can have a f/b for a long time or just for a short period of time. That is between to two of you. But if/when it is over just know that it was good while it lasted and not feel cheated because you both got something out of it and just remember the good times you shared.

I so SO agree with you. I hate the term FB. The F***ing isn't all I'm looking for. Friend with benefits VERY much describes what I want, what most of us want, I think.
