How'd you meet your SO?

Met Wife on an e-mailing list for Tori Amos back in 1998. We spent the next year and three months talking online nearly every day. She came to visit me during spring bread of my senior year. The following September, I moved 4000 miles to the UK to be with her.

Met Boyfriend on an anime forum in 2002. It only took us three months after meeting to figure out we needed each other.

I'm still with both of them. In both cases it was mutual interests. I'm not sure that either relationship would have worked if we'd met offline first, we're all an acquired taste. :D

Met my SO 4 yrs ago @ a bar..ICK imagine that..I was recently separated from Husband of 13 yrs(needed a night out w/ the girls)..had to be fate..as neither of us had ever been to this particular bar before..in fact havent been back since.

They always say things happen for a purpose. I was always being transfered all over the country so I usually didnt know anyone in the town I was living in.
My S/O lived in Manhattan and awoke one september morning to the horrors of 9/11. She had worked for a company who had offices there plus the dust covered firetrucks always past her home during the cleanup,so the horror
was hard for her to escape.
I stumbled one day into a store in the midwest and happened across a great sale on PCs and thought I would try out the internet as something to do until I got to know people in my new town. A friend of hers suggested the stories at a place called Literotica to maybe help her escape the horrors of the realities going on around her.
One day, browsing the web,I ran across a site that involved two words i love; FREE and SEX. The site is called Literotica, and I ventured into the chatroom where I got a big laugh from everyone when someone asked me to cyber and
embaressingly I asked; What's that?? LOL! I signed off, never thinking about going there again. My S/O after a few drinks one night decided to enter one of the places her mom warned her NEVER to enter; a chatroom.
We both had a mutual friend we had made their so we entered the same area.
After the three of us talked awhile, the two of us got so involved we didnt even notice the friend had left.
Months later, after chatroom, voicemails, phonecalls and yes even some cybering,
we decided to meet. This midwestern hick flew into the big city of NYC and after downing a bottle of scope and gripping a small boquet of flowers,I ventured past the smiling doorman and up the elevator. As the doors of the elevator, opened there she was. We spent a week together, realizing that we had fell in love before we met. Our friends in chat compared us to both green acres and sleepless in seattle (since we met in NYC during valentines week).
After our first meeting we couldnt stand to be apart,so we moved to my hometown together. She gave up her whole life for me,since she had never lived outside NYC, to venture into a relationship in the middle of the country.
Fifteen months later,on new years eve, at the stroke of midnight,I got on my knee and asked her to be my wife. She said YES! We havent walked down the aisle yet,but we are still together closing in on 5 years. Thanks to LIT. We feel strange that one of the causes of our happiness was 9/11 but we realize that it was meant to happen to help us both.
Dont ever think you cant end up in a relationship. I agree when people say it will happen when you arent looking for it to happen and just let it happen. Iwas traveling all over the midwest, she was thousands of miles away living just blocks from times square, with me recuperating from a divorce and her from a bad relationship and 9/11,so we both werent looking. However, fate brought two people thousands of miles away together! :)

I met mine here at Lit and it was quite by accident. I was in no way looking for anyone. I was burned on love and was just here for fun. I knew nothing about Doms and subs. I was pretty new here, too. When we talked on the computer the first time, we knew we had something good. Ah, nothing like a little cybering, huh? He slowly changed my mind and heart about love. What is funny is we had both given up on finding anyone special. We have talked every day on the phone and computer. I got to visit him for the first time a few weeks ago and it was wonderful. I'll be so glad when I can move to be with him

I met my DH at work. I was a 23yo grad student working my way through school as an assistant retail manager. He apparently had walked past, seen me, and thought I was pretty. He came in under the guise of looking for presents for his parents' birthdays (their b-days are 9 days apart). We started talking, and he came back several days later to pick up his order (after *ahem* finding out that I was working that particular night). Our first date was at a pool hall. Our first "real" date was to the State Fair. Our first dress-up date was out to dinner and to a comedy club, and I discovered that night that I'd fallen for him. This was 10 years ago this fall, and we just celebrated 7 years of marriage in May.

I do have an SO who I met here at Lit as well. Barely a day goes by that we don't speak, either online or on the phone. However, we haven't had the chance to meet irl, yet. I just say I'm doubly blessed. :)

Met mine threw a friend who was in love with him. but he didnt have no interest in her.. we have been together for 12 yrs

A long time ...

We met in school in the Fifth Grade, believe it or not ...

And that was ... well, it was more than a few years ago ... leave it at that.

Hmmmm, not sure I should post here, lol. To make a long story short, I was out with friend and he was complaining about how hard it was to meet women. I got tired of his complaining and decided to show off. I noticed a very attractive young lady with long, dark curly hair, well dressed with nice shoes and just told him, "watch this..", lol, ;). Well, let's just say we never dated anyone else after that meeting. :) :rose: We talked until 5 AM and she drove me home (see below, I was left without a car, lol).

Oh yes, as for my friend, after watching for a few moments he just shook his head and left. I tried to convince him later that meeting women was easy, but I don't think he ever believed me.

My fiance lol emailed me after I had posted a complete bitch out on a message board talking about what pigs men were that I couldn't stand that a guy couldn't talk to me without making a move, etc... He of course was defending men and told me "Just wait, you'll find a good guy. I promise."

Guess he was right :D

I met my husband on tickle matchmaking.. though i'm sure it's changed names now

How I met my SO...

Yahoo Personals - don't remember if it was "free" at the time or not. I liked his profile and sent him a message telling him so. Soon we were IM'ing. We talked online for almost 4 months before meeting IRL. He had just separated after a long marriage (>15yrs) and I was divorced after >20 yrs. My LDR with my previous SO had just ended.

To answer some of the previous questions by others - I approached him first. We still 'talk' online often - it's just one more method of communication that we use, especially when discussing things that are perhaps a bit uncomfortable because you can always retype your thoughts before pressing "send". We live 5 miles apart, we have separate homes and choose to remain that way. "Live Close By, Visit Often"!!!
