Long Distance Relationships

Do/Did any of you find things feeling "worse" after your first meeting?

Yes, it did. But think why. Because you know what you are lacking when apart.
If that worst time is the price to pay to have met each other, I will allways be willing to pay it because there is nothing worst then live without love or dreams.

And, sorry to say it, it's not better after the second, or the third or any.

OK what was that everyone said about breathing? ;)
Tomorrow will be a week since my Classy_Lover arrived at my door and it has been simply wonderful!!!
We just got back from St. Augustine today, we were there for 3 days. We stayed at a beautiful historic bed and breakfast and walked hand and hand through the town. As for the room all I will say is I will never look at neckties the same way!
It is just absolutely amazing. I will pop in again soon but he is not leaving till Saturday so don't look for me much till then.

Dearest Hat!! You have been on my mind a lot, and I'm so glad you were able to stop by for a "quickie" with us!;)

Knowing you're still with each other is easing my lonliness (I mean ALL of us shouldn't be miserable at the same time!!)

Be well and enjoy the rest of your togetherness! We look forward to hearing all about it (and the therapy of writing will help ease the discomfort after this time is over)! Huggs....

I know exactly what you mean. Me and my girl definetely noticed that time apart is worse after our first meeting. Actually, this week has been extra tough for us as well.....now that I think about it.....we have hardly gotten any large blocks of time to talk this week. Eek za...that hurts.
Getting through the "crap" of each day and week....it has become my highest goal at the moment....just so I can spend more time talking with her. ARGH...it drives me mad. And she is not home again tonight!
So my answer is yes....I know what you are going through. I am so very sorry....but, I am glad we have this thread to share our troubles...you are right, it really does help. I hope you and Oman get through your rough week ahead...I will be thinking about you. Oh, and Hatara...I am very glad to hear about your wonderful time.
I now have less than 20 days until my love arrives to see me! I can't stand these last few weeks.....the anxiety just keeps building and building. Please take care all...I will check back later.

Aww Smiley! I didn't mean to remind you of the "ouchies", but I want to thank you for sharing your "madness". "Misery loves company" they say, but at least we LDRs have something well worth feeling this way about!

Knowing that others have felt this way has actually calmed me a bit. I try not to look too far ahead. I still believe, even in the rough times, to just try and take each day one at a time. Just as the good times move on, so will the bad and lonely times.:rose:

Countdowns are sometimes a paradox: it can add to the impatience you're going through, and the buildup of course, but you already know how happy you are and all this will pass the instant she's once again in front of you.

Hang in there (and yes, do those deep breaths!) and she'll be there before you know it!:rose:

What a great way to put it, Joel... thanks! It is worth the price, definitely! Knowing that someday we'll be together is the thing to move towards. Love and dreams make our lives purposeful! I already feel I've known Oman my whole life, and as soon as I hear the sound of his voice tonight (it's already Friday here!), all this pain will magically disappear!

Love is certainly a powerful emotion! Glad I have the chance to experience it in my lifetime!:rose:

A lovely Friday...

Just checking in. My countdown is now at about 18 days. Just spent a wonderful evening in deep conversation with the woman I love....it was....magical.
Hope you are all doing well. The madness of this life continues....and it is an amazing adventure. Take care all.

Just read of a Spanish priest in atiny farming vilage who met a peruvian woman on the net. He married her on Jan 12th. Scandal, scandal. Last week he called from Peru to ask the villagers - all 280 of them) to raise money for her ticket to Spain. The villagers have raised £800, "He may be a priest, but he's also a human being!"

Made me think of you Jenny and all the LDR people. Perhaps he could be a cyber vicar and marry those who wish on the net. His namme is Fr. Alfonso Vegas Ramajo.

Amazing indeed!:rose:

Hi Smiley... countdown sounds likes it's rolling down very well! I loved the conversations Oman and I had in the weeks and days before his visit!

Hi freescorfr! What a great guy that priest must be to have such support among his congregation! (I checked it out though; Oman is definitely NOT a priest!):D

Well, I didn't exactly hear the sound of his voice last night (my decision; felt he was too tired from all his traveling, and I had other things to attend to: like sleep!). Hope we get some quality time this weekend; I'm dreading the upcoming week though, since our time together will be less than ever before!

Have a good weekend, all you LDRs!! Thinking of you, Hat, as your time together has ended. Hang in there; it's all worth it!:rose:

huggggggggggsssssssss Jenny

He left this morning to go home and he wanted to leave about as much as I wanted him too. But oh what an amazing week it has been. I can honestly say that I am more in love now than ever.

He is so wonderful and so sweet. I have been doing ok since he left though mainly because I just keep in mind that he will be back next month. I think that makes it a lot easier. I know the one thing I will hate will be sleeping alone again. UGH

But we will make it and we have time. We both need to get things done before we could be together on a permanent basis. But he has the cutest butt!!;)

He is also so sweet. I think he and oman would be great friends if we could all get together in real sometime. No matter what happens I will always treasure this past week we have had together. But I have a good feeling about us and a lot of optimism! Enough for all of the LDR's on here.:rose:

Huggs back, Hat!:rose:

It's so nice to hear you both had a wonderful experience; these memories will indeed last forever.

A month isn't that far away (you lucky lady!); are you in driving distance to each other? I think the idea of not knowing when we'll see each other again is what's getting me very down; we each have too many bills, and the price of an airline ticket is too much for either of us at this point. As hard as it is for me to imagine, it might be months before we're together again.:(

Thanks so much for getting back to the thread. I, for one, need a boost in my spirits, and reading positive stories is certainly helpful!:rose:

LOL depends on your definition of driving distance

I am in Gainesville Florida and he is in the very top of Indiana by the penis as he calls one of the great lakes.

It takes him about 20 hours to drive here. I worry about him so because he hates eating alone so he doesn't stop to eat even when he has to stop and spend the night somewhere. But then again I worry about him a lot as oman told me it's called being in love. But it is something I never want to lose I would just like to be there to give him a rub down when he gets home. But then he tells me if he had me there wouldn't have to come here. He wants and needs a warmer climate though it will just take time. I love him so I will wait, email, e-greetings, real cards, and phone in the meantime. Just called and added a thousand minutes to my phone card only costs a little over 3 cents a minute.

When you love them all you can do is think of them and your whole face and attitude lights up.

Well the driving thing,I understand completely. Throw in 3 kids and thats me. I am driving all the way up there to be with Tiger on my first long distance drive ever.

What a way to get experience. ;)

As much as I am looking forward to my trip in 3 weeks, the only thing going through my head is the fact that it will be months till I see him again, unless I win the newly formed lotto. :(

Oh well.

Take care all! :)

Wow, LTR... less than a month for YOUR trip! How long do you estimate it will take you to make your journey to Tiger? Of course, I'm still wishing all the best things possible for the both of you (and waiting for that lotto win myself!).

Just wish for me that things were more "definite", but as someone keeps reminding me (and I'm always preaching myself!): just try and take one day at a time, and do the best you can each day. I just didn't expect the degree of lonliness I'm feeling now; even staying "connected" is not as satisfying, although I'm very grateful we still can inexpensively!

Alas, it's Sunday! The busy week I've been dreading is about to begin! Hang in there, everyone!:rose:

About 14 hours non stop. Add in bathroom and food breaks for the kids, and I'll be there. ;)

Big Huggggsssss LTR

Right now I would give anything to jump in a car and head north myself. Last time I heard from him his car had broken down, he lost a part while fixing it, and he wound up locked out of the car and took over an hour to get into it. He has a car that automatically locks when the door shuts.

He was about 4 and a half hours from home then, that was last night and still haven't heard from him. I am assuming he made it home. At least that is my hope. :(

Oh my gawd.

I hope he is ok. That would make a bad ending to a wonderful visit.

Now I am getting nervous about the driving. I have really bad luck.

LOL

You guys are too funny. Thanks I needed that laugh.

LTR I am sure he is fine. He has a specialized engine and usually doesn't run the car in cold weather at all that is why he had so many problems. I am sure you will be absolutely fine in your travels. I have made a 1500 mile trip a few times with no problems. Just bring a cell phone with you. If you don't have one get one before the trip. That will ensure that you have no problems and if you do help will be just a call away.

My guy had other things he had to do. I knew that and that is why I am sure he is fine. He will contact me when he can I am just being silly.

You would also be amazed at how wonderful and helpful people can be when you are a woman traveling alone or with children. I broke down while moving into Gainesville. I had a dozen people stop to ask to help and 6 offered me use of their cell phones even though I broke down in a shopping plaza with a restaurant and pay phone steps away.

So have faith LTR you will be just fine and get there with no problems and have a wonderful time.:rose: :rose: :rose:

Inspired comedy. You two definetely belong together. I wish you all the best!

On my own little countdown..we are at about 17 days..maybe a little less. The excitement is building....our conversations getting more and more focused on the upcoming meeting.

Oh, just to hold her again....to see her walk down that airport hallway (since you cant meet them at the gate anymore..argh!)...to just have those first few minutes...that first kiss, that you remember from those long months ago....it makes any travel worthwhile.

I hope you all keep going...stay together...because we all know what it is like to be apart. Jenny and Oman....if I can help in any way....advice, planning, raising money....whatever I can do to help in your reunion....let me know, I couldnt live with myself if I didnt try. Take care all.
