Long Distance Relationships

Inspired comedy. You two definetely belong together. I wish you all the best!
On my own little countdown..we are at about 17 days..maybe a little less. The excitement is building....our conversations getting more and more focused on the upcoming meeting.
Oh, just to hold her again....to see her walk down that airport hallway (since you cant meet them at the gate anymore..argh!)...to just have those first few minutes...that first kiss, that you remember from those long months ago....it makes any travel worthwhile.
I hope you all keep going...stay together...because we all know what it is like to be apart. Jenny and Oman....if I can help in any way....advice, planning, raising money....whatever I can do to help in your reunion....let me know, I couldnt live with myself if I didnt try. Take care all.

Wow, Smiley...down to a little over 2 weeks now! That's so wonderful, and I love the way you describe seeing her at the airport! It's so true remembering all those first "moments"; I still have the flashbacks to seeing that elevator door open, and Oman standing there with flowers in his hand!:rose: Along with our first hug, kiss, etc.! Gosh, I long for those moments again!

My heart is truly touched by your offer to help "in any way" (got about $50,000 to spare??)! It appears all those experiencing an LDR are bonded together, and I believe this bond will strengthen us, or at least encourage us, to continue this strange yet wonderful way of loving!:rose:

Thank you!

LOL, I know the feeling. Boy do I know the feeling.

I am pissed off at all the work that LTR has had to do by herself. So we have upped the moving date. She will be in my arms permanently sooner then we originally planned.

That's great news, Tiger! "Sooner" is much better than "later". I continue to wish you and LTR all the best possible things. You two are my inspiration at times proving that togetherness is actually a possibility.:rose:

Checking in......

Hello. Just writing to check in and bump this thread up again.

Jenny, I know you and Oman are into a tough week....and I wish you all the best, and I know that things will be just great....hang in there kids.

We are down to right about 14 days now in my countdown. My love and I have had several deep, moving conversations this past week...and they have done a lot to strengthen our feelings, and quell our fears. She is absolutely wonderful....I cant wait to see her and hold her in my arms again.

As a final note, I meant what I said.....please let me know if there is something....anything...I can help you with. Unfortunately, I do not have oodles of excess cash lying around....or both of us LD couples would be in much better shape I assure you.

And, to everyone else....I hope you spend tonight with someone you love and care about....or at least someone that makes your insides tingle with desire. Take care all, I will check in later this week.

Soon will be joining your ranks

Jenny -

After all the time and effort that it took to bring me and mine together, after 6 short months we are now going to be apart again... <<<SIGH>>> Just when you think that you will never be alone again, life deals the wrong card...

Please keep posting because reading this thread gives me hope and allows me to find laughter in the situation that I will soon be facing... I don't mean that any of this is actually funny but it is fun for me to know that I am not alone... And I will keep you all in my thoughts as I make the arrangements to go our separate ways for a while...

Be well everyone.

My ldr will soon be over. I have just over 2 weeks until I pack up my stuff and make the journey way up the east coast.

I am scared to death, lol, but I will be with my man and that is what matters.

:)

Smiley... once again my heartfelt thanks for your offers! I found the weeks before our meeting were filled with the most tender, loving and honest conversations which strengthened me and stopped any doubts that a first meeting might present.

TWO WEEKS... Smiley AND LTR are sharing a similar countdown, and my heart beats along with the anticipation.

LTR... you will have your kids with you on your ride up the coast and that will help you on your journey! (Plus getting a cell phone as previously recommended!)

IBLNG2LAW... so sorry to hear about a separation. "For a while" still sounds hopeful though. I, too, find comfort, hope and support in reading this thread. Sometimes reading it over from the very beginning seems sad as some LDRs did not make it through the months. I know too well that things change, but we learn as we continue through the experience.

I find myself in a very uncomfortable area right now, and NOT being in touch is making things worse. (Constant communication is so very important!) A stupid decision on my part has created a disturbance that I hope will be smoothed out soon. I usually learn from my mistakes. I have already learned a lot these last few months, and realize that our love is too precious to play around with.

Thanks to all of you for keeping this thread alive! Let the countdowns continue!

Sorry I have not been around much. There will always be bumps in the road. It depends on how you both handle it....

Ltr will be up here shortly. I can not wait. I know even in the rough spots I will still want her. It is hard to explain, but we had a 48hr period where we lost communications from a special circumstance. It showed me how important she was to me. I could not think of her not being in my life.

Hi Tiger, and thanks for your thoughts.:rose:

Earlier on in our relationship, we experienced a 4-day communication breakdown due to circuit troubles at my end of the PC "connection". It was devastating, but was also the turning point as I realized how deeply I had fallen in love with him.

This week's communication breakdown started as a big mistake on my part, but it is still unresolved, and it's been hard getting in touch with him because of his traveling.

I cannot think of Oman NOT being in my life. Since I have nothing in my experiences to really compare this to, I appreciate re-reading this thread; it's scary, but comforting and reassuring that the road is not always smooth.

Thanks again, and I know how anxious this "wait" is for both you and LTR!:rose:

13 days and counting....I hope you are all doing well. My thoughts are with you....when they are not focused on the clock or cleaning the house :) . Please take care.

You have no idea! I never realized what a mess my place was...until I actually looked around with the thought......"Ok, she will be standing in this room in two weeks!" :)

I hope you and Oman are doing ok....I know this week is rough. I can only say that, from my experiences this past year...the two of you shall grow closer from these times. I wish you all the best...and say hi to Oman from me when you talk to him.

P.S.-where do the two of you get those wonderful...and always fitting little attachments...if you have a minute I would love to learn.

Take care.

The same thoughts about the mess in my apartment were in my mind, especially two weeks before Oman arrived. Actually had a girlfriend come by and help out! However, the second he appeared it just didn't matter anymore! (Of course it helped a great deal that our "cleaning" habits were more similar than different!)

Thanks for your kind words and thoughts regarding this week; I certainly hope we indeed grow closer from this.:rose:

Now, about the attachments: Google Image Search! By typing in words or phrases, Google will quickly show you images that you can isolate, right click on the image, copy the url address (from properties), then select IMG (under size/font changes when replying with a post), and that's that. Of course the size of the image needs to be considered since it shouldn't be too large to offset the balance of the thread.

Enjoy your Thursday, and your countdown will be down to single digits before you know it!:rose:

Jenny

I remember those computer trouble days!!! Oman couldn't get a hold of you and was going absolutely nuts thinking he had lost you. One night just to keep him sane I stayed up all night telling him that you hadn't just "vanished" something was going on and as soon as you could you would contact him.

I recall how he told me till that point he didn't realize just how much he loved you. At that point he finally admitted out loud that he loved you, only you, and that he didn't want to be without you. My advice was if he felt that way the minute you contacted him he should tell you. I was so happy for the two of you.

There are always going to be bumps in the road for all of us in long distance relationships. Marty has strep and virtually no voice so our phone time has been almost nill lately. I feel bad cause I can't be there to baby him and make sure he stays in bed. Our biggest problem is time. We both have things to do that we have to take care of. He has a business and I have school. In my heart I know we will make it but it's funny I have friends that are surprised he didn't just pick up and move here after meeting me. No way can he do that and I wouldn't want him to ruin his reputation and destroy himself financially doing it either.

Some day Marty and I will be together I know that in my heart. I also know that someday you and Oman will be together. The key is loving the other person enough to work through things and wait till the time is right.

Hang in there Jenny, it will all work out!:rose: :rose:

Thanks, Hat! I really needed to read your words (and remember that weekend again!) as it's been four horrible, lonely days for me. Right now my heart is numb, so it's hard for me to feel any emotions very clearly. I have tried to focus on looking for employment, but it's hard being on the PC without Oman "around".:(

LDRs are terribly tough, and if a job does come through for me, it will mean less time "connected", but I've got to believe that things will work out for us.

I hope Marty starts to feel better soon. Other people's reactions are rather funny! I think my Mom just expected me to fold up everything here in NYC and move out to Oman! I wish it were that easy, although I realize my heart is NOT completely here in NY anymore!

Thanks for your good wishes. I know that Oman and I both think of you as a special friend!:rose: Hugs, Hat!

I know how hard it is Jenny. When Marty called me from the road and said he had broken down a few times in the cold already and had all kinds of other problems and wasn't home yet and I didn't hear from him the next day I was so worried about him.

I wound up jumping online to talk to others that know him and I just to talk to someone. If you get too lonely or need a friend just im me. I am always happy to talk to you and you can always talk about Oman all you want. After all he did that with me about you LOL so turn about is fair play!

I am going to have to talk to that man though. Used to be when he was going out of town and you would be alone he would let me know so I could keep you company. I think he needs to get back to doing that from the sounds of it.

Don't give up on the job search. I know it will be hard not being online as much but money will definately help your situation and possibly let you get together more often. So good luck and keep looking. Maybe the times he is away you could try and schedule interviews or something. That way you would at east be a little busier when he is gone. Just a thought.

LDR

Hi jenny, and Hatara, two of my oldest friends.
Have not posted here before, used to say exclusives and LDR`s were not for me.
Then I got involved.
LDR in same country is difficult enough, but I am sure that as the distance apart increases, then the problems rise exponentially, i.e., the greater the distance the greater the problems.

My short lived relationship was separated by 6 hours, and 6,000 miles, was never going anywhere, unfortunately it ended for other reasons, deceit among them, but that is life.
How do I feel now?
not sure, if she said oK, lets try again, the temptation and the feelings would probably take over, but, I know in my heart,is doomed to failure.
TY for listening

Pleasureu my friend it is so good to see you. I am glad you posted here. While the distance and time difference were certainly killers to your relationship maybe that relationship was meant to just open up your heart.

I got fairly close to someone before Marty and got hurt and Marty had a relationship before me. Those ended because I truly believe they just weren't the right people for us. But I think we both needed them to open us up to the possibility that we could really find someone out there that truly cared for us.

Maybe the love you thought you found was just preparing you for the one you will find. I hope so I would like to see you happy and in love.

I agree with Hat here, P. It's a belief that has gotten me through many tough times. As my grandmother always said: "Everything happens for the best!". We grow and learn from each experience, but an open heart, while it is vulnerable, is also accepting of another person's love.

Don't give Oman too hard of a time, Hat! He tried his best to comfort me through a very unexpected and upsetting experience, and I made the mistake of isolating myself (it's a knee-jerk reaction to so many years being alone). I have never really been part of a "couple" before, and I regret reacting to something without thinking as a "partnership". I hope this incident's repercussions do NOT damage what we already have. I'm sure I'll make mistakes again in the future, but I have definitely learned a lot from this one!:rose:

Thank you for being there for both of us, Hat!:rose:

I agree with this as well. Both my love and I had been through difficult relationships prior to our meeting. For myself especially, that break-up was truly important. It made it possible for me to really see what I wanted in a relationship...and also, things that I knew I had to avoid if I was going to be happy.

From the very first, the two of us were very straightforward with each other...I think both of us thought that this was just a phase we were going through....so we were honest and up-front about everything. The amazing thing was, it worked! And we are still together...now more than ever before.

Thus, I agree. The people we have met before....they serve merely as lessons....to prepare us for that one person...the one we all search for. Take care all....you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I forgot....

to say thank you to Jenny for the help with the attachments. Now I just have to go practice. :)
