Long Distance Relationships

Well I just did a power read of this forum.... WOW!!!! And Here I thought I was one of the few, the Strong, the Insane (Or is that Inane???) Anyways bit of history for those scratching heads (Or other private areas...) About What three years ago I met this wonderful woman on an online game... Sadly at the time we were both involve in relationships that were dead but hadn't laid down yet... And knowing that she was involved and knowing that I was involved and knowing that I was starting to have feelings I stepped back... and life dragged on.... Now Time Warp (It's just a jump to the left....) to last May. Her loser dumps her for another woman and My partner of five and a half years dumps me for another guy (Both those relationships failed LOL!!! and they say there is no justice) and now I find myself available and the object of my desire single at the same time.... WOOOHHHOOOO Daddys got a new bag and all that Right??? Only one hitch.... She's in NoCal and I'm Ottawa, Ont. Canada. So yeah we are trying the LDR and hoping for the best.... Things died off a bit for awhile as I needed to go internal to get my head back on straight but things are begining to take off again..... But anyways back to where I was heading (Damn I ramble...) To those that Made it. CONGRATS!!!!, To those still trying.... CONGRATS!!!! Hope you Make it. :) And to those that Tried and missed it... How many other relationships have you had that failed.... It's all part of life. Pick up, Dust off and try again. Whereever it comes from next...

Daeth...

Oh Smiley that is so wonderful!! To have her there for your anniversary and to have made it together that long. :rose: :rose:

Oh I am so excited for you to be so close to being together with each other. The first time you get to see each other for real and actually hold each other. It's pure magic.

Just remember to keep breathing LOL It seems that is something we all seem to forget then.

Daeth...

Being the other half here. I don't know if I'll ramble as much as you do babe...but hey you know me. And forgive me if I'm rambling too cause I'm tired. I was always drawn to Daeth, but as he says, we were both in dead relationships, except for the final acts. (Boy it's amazing how blind you can be to this) We spent quite a bit of time together and I will admit there were feelings there. I just chose not to act on them at the time. And then Daeth did the disappearing job and I pushed him to the back of my mind, with the fond memories of a dear friend.

Then we found ourselves in the situation last spring and again my friend was there offering his shoulder and support. He helped me keep my sanity. And somehow, in the midst of it all those surpressed feelings came back. Was I terrified? Hell yeah. We both kept bringing up the rebound issue, neither of us wanted that. So when Daeth told me he needed his space to get himself together, I gave him that space. I'm a firm believer in fate. so if it was meant to be it would be. So now, many months later, we once again find ourselves at this spot. We have talked more about it than we did then (believe it or not) We're making tentative plans to meet late this summer. But the one thing we want to do is take our time. Neither of us wants to rush into this, despite the loneliness and the frustrations. So being as I must get to sleep...we'll leave this off here for now. It's nice to have someplace to be able to discuss this.

And babe? I'm waiting for that camp out you promised me.

Ahhhhh yes I remember that convo..... A campsite on the shore of a secluded lake..... Mmmm I really should rewrite that one and send it.....

Mr Oman,

You are bad!!! Geez I  when I think of the beginning of this thread....

Have any of you went back and read some of your earliest posts...not just on this thread, but everywhere?

Goodness....lol

Well my packing is almost done. I just have the base stuff left (clothes, food, bathroom things) so that I am leaving till next week. Now my wish is that the kids leave it all alone... ;)

9 more days...I am a bit excited over that.

Me and the kids are http://www.plauder-smilies.de/jump.gif all over the place.

Be well all, welcome to the new ones, keep strong to the not so new ones, and Jenny? Love that av,babe.

Good luck with the kids leaving everything alone LTR.

Don't be surprised if they think of a dozen more things they simply have to bring before then!

Another LDR Couple!!

Welcome to LIT and to the thread, Daeth and Lady Sam! What a wonderful story, and proof positive that all good things come to those who wait!:rose:

Your distance is further than mine with Oman (I'm in NYC; he's in Missouri; one hour time difference), but each day brings new hope and new adventures, along with a lot of frustration! Communication is the most important thing to keep up with. We took things slowly, but timing is different for each couple. I try to live each day one at a time and try not to focus on the fact that I have no idea when I'll be back in Oman's arms again.:( However, reading about the couples that ARE in the process of making their dreams come true (yay Smiley... second time around; and yay to LTR and Tiger!) help keep my hopes alive, and I enjoy sharing in their excitement!:)

Hope you two continue to check in with us, and that your LDR just grows even better with time.:rose:

WOW, LTR... single digits for you too!! The kids sound just as excited, and it must be a major emotional range that you're going through! You know our thoughts and hearts are with all of you through this BIG journey you're about to undertake!

Welp happy Days. Just got confirmation, I'm packing up and moving again. Hate the big city. (Yeah I know it's Canada how big can it be.... :) ) Heading south abit only 45 min closer to the border but hey instead of a 48 hour drive to cali it's now only about 47 hours. :) Heheh We LDR's have to take our smiles where we can. :)

Closer is always better even if it's only a mile! Just stay close in each others hearts and keep in touch.

That's the spirit, Daeth!!:rose:

Good luck on the move! Keep thinking in that positive direction too!

Well the main reason for the move is to get outa the concrete Jungle before it drives me too nut's. The secondary is to start setting down roots again. Been kinda drifting since I moved outa the ex's place. Hard to place roots and feel like home when you know you ain't staying there....

Evening everyone. And a great big kiss to you Daeth. I know how you hate the city and all it entails and Im seriously beginning to want out of this state. Ah to save up and get things done, but we said slow and slow it will be. *is still wondering how to tell mom abou this....especially after the er last one*

Hi again to Daeth and Lady Sam:rose:

Patience is a tough thing, especially with an LDR (and expressly after a "bad" relationship)! Time is so precious, and we should not take it for granted.

Good luck with your move, Daeth.

Try not to worry about how to tell Mom, Lady Sam (look who's talking! at my age, I twisted the truth a little to calm her nerves).

"One day at a time"!:rose:

I tried a long distance relationship and the girl I was crazy about started to demand more of me.......expecting me to try and come see her often - which was really difficult for me because of my job! It got really tense and ended up not working. I wish you well. Good luck!

Screenwriter in order for it to work you have to have someone mature enough to understand that you have commitments in your life already that you are responsible for. You have to work together and be grateful for the time you have and make the most of the time you get.

Lady Sam right now all my family knows is that I have a good friend. That he has been here and visited. I have told them nothing else. Right now that is all that they need to know. I love them but I feel that when the time is right I will sit down and talk to them and not before. Do they have an idea or have they guessed the truth? Probably but they won't ask and until I am ready I will not say.:rose: :rose:

Bang on Hatara!!!!

I keep telling her to easy them into it... start by mentioning it casual convo... little things like "I was just talking to <Insert name here> the other day and...." ect until they actually care to find out a bit more then feed them a bit at a time until they realize that <Insert name here> is a part of your life and then you fill them in on the details like where this person is and how you met and where you hang out ect....

Yes, yes I know babe...But maybe I should mention WHY I haven't told mom yet. (And I have mentioned you to her before :p) I was in a relationship as a result of the internet once before. Except I didnt take the time I'm taking now. I rushed into it. Moved to be with him. And it was ok for the first year. Then the misery set in. But being blind to it you don't realize it till afterwards. And if any care to take a guess....It was my last relationship that lasted five years. My mother almost made me swear not to again. And the fact that I have her only blood grandchild makes it a bit difficult. But I am working on it.

Mmmmmmm But the Wait is well worth it Babe. And yeah yer Ex is aPutz and my Ex is welllll we'll leave it at that. so taking it slow and steady is a great idea... I geuss I should mention that I also met my Ex online and was with her for over 5 years as well..... hehehe

But you know what babe, in all this time, you have always been there for me. First and foremost as my best friend.

My sister met up with a guy she met online and immediately told my parents how she met him and that this was her new boyfriend. They had an LDR and after each job is finished he moves and usually to a new state. My sister does not move and can't and is in one place. He worked so much she always had to go to him. Needless to say it didn't last very long. They hadn't talked online that much and didn't really know each other.

My guy was a good friend that I talked to for months online before we ever got involved. We talked for a while more before ever meeting and we talked about everything.

Right now my parents would judge our relationship based on my sister's past ones. So for right now he is a friend, a good friend but that's all that they need to know right now. As time goes on and our relationship progresses they will hear more. The 2 of us are taking time in our relationship and since we aren't rushing things I see no need to rush telling my family.

Good luck Lady_Sam! Right now my family knows that Classy_Lover is a friend that is someone special in my life. For now that is enough.
