Funny thing about time zones! (Well, not THAT funny!)

Oman and I have an hour time difference between us. Quite frankly, it's the BIGGEST hour I have ever seen!! I've been unemployed, yet I still cannot seem to coordinate my time, especially in the evening, with his. It's not at all drastic (I could NEVER imagine one of us living in Australia!!), yet annoying enough to know that when he says "omg, it's already 11pm"... it's already midnight in NYC! Or when he leaves for work at 9am in Missouri, it's already 10am in NYC and takes me that much longer to get going!

It's so hard to say what would have happened if Oman and I met offline first. I know I would have been attracted to him (I feel so strongly that we were meant to find each other), but I think I might have taken some things for granted, and I feel that LDRs need to put in extra effort and time to make their relationships work.

fortunately I do not have to wait too long to be with him! I am planning my first trip to the UK in July!

Trust and Honesty

Hi all, I'm a relative newbie to this...

My LDR started on 16 January 2002.

I am in Brisbane, Australia, she is in Everett, Washington. We use all posable means of comunicating.. post.. email.. chat... phone... we even use ESP. The number of times we have tried to call eachother at the same time... both getting a busy signal.. I will be sitting at my desk and think of her... and pick up the phone to receive a busy tone... she is doing the same thing... spooky really. We have a wonderful time together (miles apart) but I just want to share a story with you all...

Feb 10, 2002 8:30 am Brisbane time, arrival time for Heather's plane, she was coming to see me, 12 weeks of being together... The plan then is for me to travel back to Everett with her for a while...

The morning of Feb 10, I logged onto my PC to find what I thought was a last minute email from Heather... instead, a dear John letter... or near enough... she got cold feet 4 days prior and had lied to me for those days... even using her boss to ring me and help her with her lie. I was devistated... I went into shock.. unable to move or even breath... she was just scared...

We are still together, I don't use the phone anymore, saving my money... she is now booked on a flight to land here 10:30am May 10, 2002.

I am telling this story so that anyone out there that is not 100% honest within their LDR... come clean!!! Don't put a person through the same roller coaster ride I went though over this... we lost a week of loving, maybe more, it was a week before I could talk to her with a friendly tone... and 61 days of lost time together. The cold feet I can understand AND forgive, the 4 days of lieing was harder to overcome. Ask Heather, I still question her about things that don't seem 100% correct.

I have lost a lot of faith in her, something I will get back (hopefully) when we do get together. The lies have put a barrier between us, something that should not be there. Be honest, let the other person, the person you are supposed to love, know exactly how you feel. Heather never gave me a chance to talk about her cold feet, we may have been able to makje other arrangements to get together eariler than may 10.

Welcome to the ldr thread top cat. And I agree, honesty is very important in any relationship, but even more so in an ldr. Because we dont have that face to face contact. Daeth and I are honest with each other. It just takes work. Hopefully you can restore your faith in Heather.
