Pathfinder: OOC

I've noticed catrips that have been well used, though usually not as intended... its up to the DM and player work those things out.

Story before Rules is usually a motto of mind.

Oh yes! In most cases, at least. All us casters cast the cantrip on the undead kobolds and the necromancer told it (he had summoned it) "Run".... The GM made a roll on the feline aspect of the tigers and they all went loco for the catnip and decided the kobold was more fun than our party. We laughed SO hard, it was at least 5 minutes before we continued on the game.

Ah, gms with god complexes, my my this is gonna be fun.

I can do Overlord. Bt all your goblins r belong to me! hehehehehehehe

Ok somebody call the doc....hes lost it.

Naw Dramatic, it truly is easier to convey F2F, I think I should have also clarified that your DM is off his nutter. I like to play a role. And 90% of what comes out of my mouth OOC in games is just humors prattle. I like humor. But sometimes it happens. Its just not worth losing friends to make enemies.
Rys

"Gluttonous Overlard."
"Wielder of the Paladin Mop."
"Aggravator of the Angry Beards."
That game was awesome.

Yeah, that's me in general too. Life's too short to not spend it laughing.

Have you ever played/GM'd Paranoia? So, so much ridiculous fun. Your evil god complex would be perfect for GMing.

Oh good lord. let's do some RPing! I need to test Aruku's somantic dancing for spells....

*laughs outrageously at some of the posts he's missed* I love you folks. It's people like you that make the game fun to play.

Ok It's looking like no one is going to post comments to my rules on this thread, so I will leave that open for discussion later as we slowly see what works and what works better. For now I would like everyone to Read post #25 on page 1 of this thread. Please get really familiar with it. I plan to have a copy open just to remember what I said.

Next I have seen some discussion on why some of you are in Sandpoint. I am going to assume that we will cover why you are here as we go scene by scene. Tomorrow sometime I hope to have the opening scene crafted and ready to post. Once that thread begins I will do my utmost to keep it going.

In the interest of keeping it going. If you have not posted for your character in a week and someone is waiting for you to reply I will instruct your adversary to post your reply. Most of the time this will be me. However, if you think you can act an ass, post an attack on a fellow PC or innocent npc, and then just not come back for a week or two....lol...you will come back to a headstone. WHAT? Yes that means I am encouraging you to value your character, otherwise they might just be roadkill. But why a week? Because barring a life crisis that involves long hospital stay and no computer use...most of us can manage a post a week. If you can't, then send me a PM. As a matter of fact, all of you send me PM's now! Worship at my feet minions!! No I jest of course, but PMs or if you have my yahoo or want it just let me know. I want you happy to be playing here not have it be a chore.

If you know you won't be posting for awhile but you know you will be back, PM. We can work it out.

If your cat had kittens on your keyboard and it takes you 10 minutes to type one letter, I guess there's no reason to tell you to type slower, but just find a way to let me know. Most libraries will let you post :)

Oh and a word to the wise about what I call the "Honor system" If you are a dick in character and flame someone, you're out. I will not tolerate acts of malice committed under the guise of being in character. If it's story and we can all see it is, then it stays. But if it is obvious player badgering. I won't even warn you. I will ask a mod to have your posts removed and you along with them if I can. I don't do petty. Also, I just recently had the beginnings of a serious disagreement with one of my own players. If you have ought with someone in this game or on this thread. Act like an adult please. If you can't the same rule applies. I will have you and your character removed. Please, please I beg of you do not do this to yourself and the fellow players.

Game Start:

Once I post the opening Scene from Burnt Offerings, you will be free to post. Post as often and frequently as you can. anytime something is occurring for a PC outside of party knowledge it will be handled in PMs for my record keeping purposes.

One of the very first scenes in the adventure is combat. Remember we are attempting a diceless, story focused, honor system. If I see that you are suddenly a level 1 god...your PMs will be burning :). Try to remember that good writing and proper story are essential for us all. Please respect each other with your talents....the 6th Deity may just grant you a boon.

Lastly, the 6th God. I had a rather hilarious idea. I want to see what you all think.

It started out as banter with Dramatic, but it evolved in my mind. My board name comes the second character I ever played. He eventually became a demigod. As a kind of perk for this campaign....if your character chooses to acknowledge the "6th god" or "Rysil" in their posting.....I will consider it. If I feel you have impressed me....you will be rewarded. The prize to be at my whimsy. If you refer to the 6th god and I find displeasure in how my name was used or referenced....My wrath might be incurred. I may even let someone worship me as their god....*Looks at the prostitute cleric*....but this was very very very amusing to me as to the silly possibilities of using the DM as and actual god in the campaign.

Please flame the 6th god now.

That's okay, Rysil. In my homebrew setting it is actually possible, albeit very difficult, to journey to earth from the game setting. Part of Earth's plane is a subplane which I can't remember the name of, but it was the Finnish word for strings. It is again dificult but possible to cut those strings to perform terrible catastrophy on the setting. Options include things ceasing to exist, entire nations dying, and player characters accidentally getting themselves killed or going mad (and forcing the rest of the party to kill them.)
Fortunately, I chose Rahadoum as my nation of origin so I don't have to worry about any of your religious crap yet.
I am posting from my smart phone........ now that I think about it, I might be able to go get the PDF anyway. I'll have to check.... nope. Can't download it. So I haven't read the player's guide to the campaign.

As for the honor system.... ideas.
One Roll to Rule Them All.
I've been toying around with the idea of using a simple d20 roll to dtermine how well I let things slide for my character. It would be a scale something like
20. Whatever I want to do that isn't unreasonable, I do with flourish.
15-19. Whatever I want to do that isn't unreasonable, I do well.
6-14. Average success over reasonable things.
2-4. I fail at reasonable things, but not to the point of self harm.
1. Total cock up.

For example, say I want to Shocking Grasp a troll attacking the party. My post would be something like follows.
20. I manage to put my hand onto the troll's face, disfiguring it and get out of the way before it's vision clears up.
15-19. I grab the troll's leg, roll under a blow (dodge feat!) And out of direct attack. I may or may not be exposed to it's next turn.
6-14. I put my hand against it's chest, and regain my feet in time to react the certainly incoming reposte.
2-5. I miss, and either balance myself on something so I lose the spell but regain my balance or I keep the spell but lose my balance and am open to the trolls attack openly.
1. I miss utterly and trip, falling prone at the creature's feet, lose the spell, and see my life flashing before my eyes.

And unreasonable here would change things. A well trained foe, or troll had an electric proof leather armor, or other factors would change outcomes. Convincing the a cleric to heal my wounds would be reasonable. Convincinng her to screw me too would not, and require DM moderation, even if I rolled a 20 on my post.

That's an idea I've been toying with, at any rate.
Also, you might consider putting links to important posts you make in this thread in your primary post. Things like the character sheet post, the post with setting guide, etc.

All that posting and not one word about the 6th god. Can I ask you to have a little more faith in me? *Rimshot*

Oh and, "Convincing the a cleric to heal my wounds would be reasonable. Convincinng her to screw me too would not, and require DM moderation, even if I rolled a 20 on my post."...I am thinking you may want to talk to the cleric, and then maybe revise that chart for that roll. I am not saying she's easy or nothing, but you might be pleasantly surprised. The rogue or the bard on the other-hand. Until you got some major bling-bling....I would watch my pouches, backpack, and the back it's attached to, and maybe sleep in a cod-piece with both eyes open.

In all seriousness, I like what I saw from your chart and I think with a lil fine tuning from situation to situation that works. I would suggest that anyone looking for a guide to how well their character does may want to consider this, but without a way to verify dice rolls (And I hate those dice rollers sorry) I see no point in trying to rules-lawyer and munchkin. I am not saying anyone is or that it's really even wrong. I am just saying without a table top and a battle map....much of the mechanics become nothing more than good ideas.

My biggest focus for you players is to keep my eye on running the adventure. I don't want to tie myself or you the players up in a lot of complicated and sometimes confusing mechanics. In my experience when the game becomes about the mechanics....for a lot of us story based folks the game can lose some flavor and fun.

I will wrk on trying to do that this week, I just need to be a better DM and get all board savvy again.

Hmmm.... I'm thinking Rysil is the name Runs-With-Night's people taught him to call upon whenever he should need to draw from the vast power of the forces of nature.

Sorry, I meant a random cleric out in your NPC roster. The player would always determine her own actions.

I don't put my faith in the fickle. :p

Ah someone gets me, so nice to be praised and worshiped. Now go fetch me more minons slave! *Giant hook comes out of nowhere*

New DM~ We are really sorry about the former imposter DM, we hope you enjoy the kinder, gentler, easier GM. Thank you and Remember, bite american.

Ahem....My silliness factor tends to increase on sleep dep (Sleep Dep, it's the new coke). So forgive me for being a lil punchy.

Oh and Raven....heres a cookie. bring me another worshiper and you can has more

You sir need to dance in a pickle.

don't put my faith in the fickle *grumbles* What kind of God do you think I am? Wait don't answer that.

And I think your use of the cleric was subcompact, because the cars were aligned due to an unstable Angina. That make sense to anyone other than us gods?
*looks around*
Nope? That's what I thought!
*trips and falls off his cloud and then jumps back up combing his hair back*
I meant to do that (>.>)

More like respected and honored. Runs-With-Night would without hesitation smite those who would attempt to poison and destroy nature, but all things are free to live in their own way. Nature, though mighty, never demands such things as slavery, that could only come from the hubris of a man...

A cookie? I thought I can has cheeseburger... *Looks disappointed.*

A man? Where? I think you're lying and must be smoted *Singes you nose hairs with a tink electric shock* Zues took his lightening back, the bum.

Oh riiight Cheeseburger....get me another wild eyed crazy nature minion. I like those.

No body asked if I was a "Good" Deity MWAHAHAHahahahah *Hack, HACK, cough* Gah...hairball.

"Rysil is neither good nor evil, neither kind, nor cruel... It is both, because nature is both. That being said, I know of a whole tribe of long haired, tree huggers that just love nature. Oh wait... Their dead! Man killed them!" Runs-With-Night says while rubbing his singed nose. "Come on Coils-In-Silence, we should go..." Runs-With-Night says to his anaconda animal companion. :D

*Turns to the cleric* "Run child the 6th god will protect you."

*Turns to the Paladin* "I'm in the way, I'm a god, now what?"

*Is secretly hoping his true neutral status will keep him from being smitten*

(Oh the ways you could have fun with that Jack, but do you really get away with smiting gods as a Paladin?)

If they do stand by my god, then they are my enemies!!

Crap, don't have smite yet

YES!!! but you know if you convert to the religion of the 6th god we could work a deal. And hey, look at it this way *whispers* if you make the cleric worship me, I can promise to make sure she is yours.

Ahem..*cough* So uh yeah...let me know what you think. *Makes pistol gestures at you with a cheesy car salesman smile* "Have your people call my people. We'll do lunch"

Wait, just curious. Do any of our other casters have their spells picked/selected for them.
Also, Emipet, you are definitely a tease. :p

I think the way I am allowing spells is pretty easy. For the Divine Casters it's whatever they want that they can cast. For you and the Bard I chose what you told me to. For the Bard I didn't choose spells yet, but It will be all ready in a few days.

I Need to make sure the Characters are all posted at the beginning of the thread. I need to put the finishing touches on the last few PC's in my record keeping program. and Then I need to open things up for you folks. I am hoping by Wednesday to have everything done and posted. I thank you in advance for your patience.

http://alharadnd.wikidot.com/paladins-of-iomedae

I like this

The paladins of Iomedae are just and strong. Their mission is to right wrongs and eliminate evil at its root. They are crusaders and live for the joy of righteous battle. They serve as examples to others, and their code demands they protect the weak and innocent by eliminating sources of oppression, rather than the symptoms. They may back down or withdraw from a fight if they are overmatched, but if their lives will buy time for others to escape, they must give them. Their tenets include:

• I will learn the weight of my sword. Without my heart to guide it, it is worthless—my strength is not in my sword, but in my heart. If I lose my sword, I have lost a tool. If I betray my heart, I have died.

• I will have faith in the Inheritor. I will channel her strength through my body. I will shine in her legion, and I will not tarnish her glory through base actions.

• I am the first into battle, and the last to leave it.

• I will not be taken prisoner by my free will. I will not surrender those under my command.

• I will never abandon a companion, though I will honor sacrifice freely given.

• I will guard the honor of my fellows, both in thought and deed, and I will have faith in them.

• When in doubt, I may force my enemies to surrender, but I am responsible for their lives.

• I will never refuse a challenge from an equal. I will give honor to worthy enemies, and contempt to the rest.

• I will suffer death before dishonor.

• I will be temperate in my actions and moderate in my behavior. I will strive to emulate Iomedae's perfection.
