Sex & Shenanigans

The blood. It’s a pass on dinuguan for me…and blood sausage too, for that matter. The “Full English” breakfast would be wasted on me because I wouldn’t eat the black pudding (blood sausage) or mushrooms, and…I like beans, but FFS, there are better ways to serve them than baked!
I enjoyed the full Scottish Breakfast several times last week, and so good! I get why people don't do mushrooms (my best friend had to get his stomach pumped from eating a wild one as a kid for instance) and black pudding even more so. But damn, I enjoyed it 🤤

I am kind of picky also.
One of my triggers is coconut.
I can't stand the taste or texture.
If I detect it, I am grossed out.
I was very upset when Mountain Dew did a few flavors with coconut water. It made me start dissecting the labels more than I wanted to.

Mmmmm, mushrooms, yum! I’d try the black pudding - blood doesn’t gross me out for some reason. Balut or insects/worms/arachnids of any kind on the other hand 🤢

That just reminded me of another Filipino dish I absofuckinglutely will not eat. I don’t recommend clicking the spoiler at all, but for those curious-minded…don’t blame me if you 🤢🤮, you were warned!

Etag: pork left in earthen jars to “cure” for weeks, but actually rots and grows maggots

That dish reminds me of Casu martzu - a traditional Sardinian cheese that contains live insect larvae, or maggots, which are intentionally introduced to promote fermentation and create a soft texture. It is considered unsafe to eat when the maggots have died, so it is typically consumed while they are still alive.

Tastes like duck to me.

Is it as fatty as duck? Though a duck breast poached in coconut milk and lemongrass is a joy, and avoids most of that.

We eat kangaroo and emu here in Oz. Every country has their delicacy. 🤭
I haven't had kangaroo, but emu is delicious . There was a push to raise them here as food birds, but it never took off. Which is too bad, because lean, amazing flavor. I have work to find it now.

Alligator is good, if seasoned well. Rattlesnake as well. Bison has great flavor, but it is so lean, you really have to take that onto consideration when grilling.
