So... are there actually any moderators around here?

There is no higher authority, though, that keeps track of things the way moderators do. If there is a problem on the boards - and BLoved was a major problem, he pretty much hijacked all conversation for two months - then it is the moderator's responsibility to bring it to the attention of the administrators. Laurel can't watch every board all the time. Numerous people (myself included) reported many, many messages that broke the rules, and no action was taken on any of them. It was frustrating to have threads in Talk that belonged in the Cafe, or even somewhere else altogether; that's a rule that he broke. There was a flood of 20 new threads in as many minutes, that's another broken rule. He repeatedly broke the rules, other members repeatedly reported it, and no action on those reports was ever taken. Laurel was notified of several broken rules, and she took care of some of them, but it was obvious to many people that the level of attention needed for the board was not being provided. I didn't nominate myself as moderator, someone else did, because there was a clear and demonstrated need for someone who was more active.

It wasn't just him, either. There was also a flood of spammers and spam threads that went unchecked for quite some time.

Agreed.

-And yanno, sometimes life gets in the way. I think we can all understand that, but I know that if I was ever offered the job/position of Mod, I'd have to be honest with myself, and decline. I know that I simply can't be here consistently.

It's a matter of consistency...

The forum needs mods that have the time and are available.

Hi, my name is Etoile, and I have no life. :D

I still  you...despite your lack of having anything better to do.

Juuuuuuust kiddding....

Honestly, I don't know how you manage it all, but you manage it well.

-I mean that, I'm not merely kissing your ass.

I am happy that you have the time to be more active then I or cat here. I do check the boards almost daily unless i dont get up for work on time or someone needs me more then the boards do. I also dont feel i need to defend my actions or so called lack of action. I have moved many of this persons threads to mod que or where they belonged...as a matter of fact I spent almost half an hour trying to fix the mess that was created. I dont post here much because quite frankly im tired of having nothing good to post these days but I am here every chance i get to check in on freinds etc and if i am unsure of how to proceed with something going on it is because i happen to be relatively new at this...funny how the people who have been doing this for a long long time dont offer any guidance. I dont choose to argue this on the board anymore. I do have a PM box and it is never full.
