I have no idea how many albums I have. I had a huge vinyl collection that numbered in the thousands. When I was in college I gigged a lot and would use the band's pa system to dj on off days or between sets so I built up a huge collection. You'll find most of them on YouTube or Bandcamp. Those sites make it easy to "try before you buy".
Bandcamp is great, though it's SO easy to listen on Bandcamp, and click 1 button to drain your bank account - er - I mean buy the album![]()
My collection is around 5,000 albums right now - and LitFan and BJ probably have similar collections.
I was lucky, though. I was a reviewer for a long time so bands and labels and PR companies used to send packs of 10 to 15 albums per week, unsolicited, wanting reviews and publicity.

To protect it I digitalized everything onto a terabyte external hard drive then backed everything onto another terabyte external hard drive that I keep in a fire proof safe.
Yep, I learned my lesson.
Yep - I've done the same. I have my collection replicated on 4 separate hard drives, because hard drives DO die.
Thanks....
Now I gotta run out and get more hard drives....
