Del Shannon's Runaway covered by Bonnie Raitt (nice, slow and sexy as hell)

Yes, I have eclectic taste.

On tonight's training bike ride I broke out my new AfterShokz bone conduction headphones. Pretty decent sound considering.

It was a 25 mile ride in an hour an 20 minutes (fast ride), so I got in 1 and a half albums:

Opeth : In Cauda Venenum

Probably my least favorite from Opeth.

Phideaux : Snowtorch

Not my favorite by Phideaux, but still very good.

I saw him/them doing Doomsday Afternoon, live, at a ROSfest. Spine-chilling - truly beautiful.

Fragments

Trifecta

New release today. I have been waiting for this for months. Trifecta is the Steven Wilson touring band minus the guitars. Wilson notoriously does very quick soundchecks before shows . Bassist Nick Beggs, keyboardist Adam Holzman and drummer Craig Blundell would stay and improv jazz for hours. The Roadies got used to this preshow show and suggested they record this.
This album is the result of that.
In the latest Prog magazine Beggs was asked for his opinion of this, "Well, my wife hates it and thinks it's the worst thing I've ever done, so I have that going for this."

Hatching

Mythopoeic Mind

Another new release today.
This one from Oslo, Norway - a five piece, jazz/prog hybrid. Interesting

Roan

Carcass - Dance of Ixtab
https://youtu.be/34uxC0cfQc4

Came for the shred (and the lyrical vitriol), stayed for the video. Since getting their act back together, Carcass have been nothing but freaking awesome. Slight harsh vocal warning in effect.

Aborted - ManiaCult
https://youtu.be/1NPPSf0dZ6A

Where (modern) Carcass operate with a razor-sharp scalpel, Aborted prefer the good old sledge when it comes to brutal Death Metal. It's almost too much for my Autopsy- and Bolt Thrower-trained palate, especially the seeming absence of clear hooks or melodies. But the song does a nice job pulverizing my face. Giving the whole album a spin later. Absolute death growl warning - There's nothing nice in the vocal department. :)

'preciate the warning B_J!

Listened to a new release earlier today from Scarlet Records - first song opening instrumental, heavy and thoroughly enjoyable. Second song - instant , harsh deep growls. Nope.

Hope you and yours are doing well.
