What Are You Listening to Now 7.0

Troika bonus edition (the extra songs are worth it)

D'Virgilio, Morse, and Jennings

Many, many, many, many years ago I discovered and loved Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - this is the first album to give me that exact same vibe. So far my favorite album of 2022.

Satan - From Second Sight

Hot fucking damn, where did I take a wrong turn and end up in 1983 again? Compared to all the new music in my YouTube stream this Friday, this is the best thing. No death screams despite the rather vicious artwork. Just pure melodic metal. Hard to believe they paused for nearly twenty years before deciding to come back. Good shiiiiiiiiiit!

Just released today - oh, happy day!

Well, considering the amounts of bullshit I had to deal with over the past few weeks, I had more urgent stuff to deal with than record release dates. Positive spin: It's a pleasant surprise!

I'll be spinning "Impera" a couple more time before deciding on a verdict. As usual, it's very poppy stuff and easy on the ears. Lets see how good the long-term stickyness is.

Mostly Ukrainian Music right now - there's some good music there

в той день, "Don't Be Sad"

On the day the war ends,
And the tired boys return home,
My mother's tears will fall to the ground
For those who will never return ...
We will remember how the Maidan burned,
Through the black smoke of St. Michael's bells.
The blood of our brethren on the shields,
And with bullets deadly race.

Don't be sad when I'm gone
Pray and kiss our child,
Remember, the Lord protects
Those who defend the Motherland!
Remember, the Lord protects
Those who defend Ukraine!

On the day the war ends,
Let's remember our soldiers - the Heroes of Ukraine,
Donetsk left in ruins
And those who laid down their lives there.
And to the volunteers - the angels of God -
Low bow to the ground,
Their help is like living water,
They saved us in difficult times.

Don't be sad when I'm gone
Pray and kiss the child,
Remember, the Lord protects
Those who defend the Motherland!
Remember, the Lord protects
Those who defend Ukraine!

When peace and quiet come
In our unconquered country,
Say "Glory to Ukraine!"
The day the war ends.

Don't be sad when I'm gone
Pray and kiss our child,
Remember, the Lord protects
Those who defend the Motherland!
Remember, the Lord always protects
All those who defend Ukraine!

#ПісніВійни - Дар'я Зубенко & Анастасія Приходько - ДІВЧАТА

"Girls" from the album, "War Songs- Daria Zubenko & Anastasia Prikhodko

A song about girls who "cut braids and tightly lace up berets" - and defend Ukraine in the ongoing anti-terrorist operation.

The author of the lyrics to "Girls" is a poet, volunteer, and public figure, Olena Zadorozhna. The author of the music is Daryna Yakovenko, who was 14 years old at the time of writing and who studied at a school in the Poltava region. As part of the project #War songs, the duet was recorded by ATO soldier and paramedic Daria Zubenko from Chernihiv, and famous Ukrainian singer Anastasia Prykhodko.

Girls cut braids and tightly lace up berets,
They dreamed of happiness, it seemed, a bandaged heart bleeds.
Girls pack suitcases, Put aside their sadness and fatigue.
Prayer is a safe visa for you to return home.
Girls gather strength and no longer count wrinkles.
Hastily to where "covered",
Whisper: "Be patient. A little more…".

CHORUS: Girls do not want to lose,
So they give ammunition,
So they put on uniforms
And learn to hold weapons.

Girls are chatting - Sleepless, stormy nights.
Weakness grips in a vise, Burning teary eyes.
Girls straighten their backs with thoughts of those who are having a hard time.
The enemy will not stop them, it is difficult to hit the Bullet.
Girls gather strength and no longer count wrinkles.
Hurry to where "covered",
Whisper: "Be patient. A little more…"

Wow, difficult to follow that Chloe ... but, as it happens, this is playing as I try to write another story
Wolf Alice, live at the Eventim Apollo London a few days ago

Rush - Moving Pictures

My most favorite Prog album ever. As much as I like Spock's Beard, I feel "Snow" is too preachy - and the whole "Rockstar finds God" arc sounds awfully familiar. "Streets - A Rock Opera" anyone? I prefer "The Crimson Idol" by WASP when it comes to Rockstars crying like little girls over their oh so horrible childhoods. I mean, grow up with most of your eyesight missing and all the bullying and alienation THAT entails. But I'm not mewling about how cruel fate has been. Hey, maybe I can write a concept album about it...

Or Tommy.

Or Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.

Or Music Man.

Or... 😐

Still, with Snow, I couldn't care less about the lyrics. For me it's always about the music. Lyrics or a decent 'concept' just add one more layer to the music.

Didn't know there was anything new inbound. But most likely "no". I'm happy with my remastered CD.

@JustAPearlGirl: A pity Rush rarely came to Germany. I missed their R40 tour and afterwards Rush concerts in Europe were a "blink & you'll miss it" affair. Couldn't afford the black market ticket prices anyway. Now I could, but... *sighs*
