I am thinking, it is super confusing and frustrating having to navigate here, and that this place sometimes makes me feel restrained and stifled.

Mostly because... I do not really fit in. Which is okay, I know who I am and where I come from.

You're not supposed to like everything or everyone, and you shouldn't expect everyone to like you or your stuff. It's a melting pot, great for discovering yourself and others, both good and bad. Probably.

The political correctness of the humour.. ugh.. my Danish humour would make me persona non grata within 5 minutes.

But.. it is the small things that I miss. Those that are difficult to explain.

Still, I am lucky! Without turning this into something grandiose BS - this place does give me a broader perspective on life.

Im the youngest of 7 girls. My dad survived somehow. Then I married a military man. So my sense of humor is.... DARK in so many ways. And being Mexican also adds another layer of dark humor. Put it all together and I'm deleting more often than typing when I respond to posts.

And we do not believe in quotas. We believe in hiring the best candidate for a position.

What I am trying to say; I do not feel as if my voice is worth more or less than anyone else.

And that almost everything is free game, when you are making jokes...

Plus, Danish humour is pretty dark..

Now? I'm 47 and my family still called Gordis! You have to have super thick skin to survive a Mexican household.

I would say from an outside perspective you fit in just fine and there are genuine people here who do show their care and interest, sometimes it just takes a minute to find them.

I tend to be a little standoffish (its the RBF, Im sure). But feel free to say hey anytime.

But, when Covid hit and we had to go into lockdown? It became a standing joke that the Scandinavians almost got social anxiety.. how we had to keep only two meters distance!
