I'm glad someone finally realized what a bitch Bunny is besides just me. She's doesn't feed me. She keeps me chained up to the couch. She doesn't bath me but once a month and then its just a hosing down outside in the freezing rain. She only gives me a tin can to shit in and only cleans it out once a week. If she decides to feed me it is only bread and water maybe twice a week. She's such a bitch.

The tenants of free speech is based upon civility and everyone's attempt towards the same. Whether any group, bitches, witch hunters, or hypocrates after their own fashion disrupt that civility, adjustments should be sought to restore it.

There is also a lot of talk of double standards and witch hunts. I will say two things on that from my own perspective.
To me this is a community and as with the community in which I live, if anyone behaves in a way I find personally offensive or attacks others I will speak out, just as i did with Sinnocent when she attacked b and also IYM. I am not some self appointed community behaviour police though and nor do i want to be. I do not go seeking it out, I do not have the time nor the inclination for that. Also as some others have said, I actually hate confrontation... it makes me nervous lol, but unfortunately I feel compelled to challenge some things.
And so if something happens on my 'doorstep' or a thread I am posting in, I have in the past challenged it and I will continue to do so.
Why won't I ignore? Well I don't think I should have to. I like Lit and I enjoy posting and interacting with others here. I think its the people who are part of a community to behave like a community and take responsibility for their behaviour. In terms of responsible posting and behaviour the onus should be, surely has to be, with the poster, not the reader.

I refer back to my first post on this thread. My point was and still is, whether certain negative behaviour is a defence mechansim or not its still learnt behaviour. Just as with my own negative traits like possessiveness and stuff, its chicken and egg...but at the end of the day its behaviour I have adopted and its my responsibility to myself and others to try and un learn it.
As ADR put it, its about how we as individuals control it.
Its interesting to know why for example i am the way I am, is it down to past events and a learnt defence mechanism I have now adopted? My point was, either way I can use those as an excuse or I can use them as a reason to try and address it. As can anyone. Hell unless its down to genes...then we are screwed. lol

As for Bunny, although I have never been involved in PMs with her, I often enjoy what she has to say. I have also posted on a couple of her threads in the past, same with nh23.
As intelligent people with something to say I will listen and learn, but as with anyone if they said something or behaved in a way I find offensive I will say something.

However I hope I never have double standards about it and would do the same with men or women alike. Just as I challenged YourCaptor.

I completely agree with DB. In society men get away much more with certain behaviour. Women who speak out are often desribed as bolshy(sp?) and i loathe that inequality. Its not something I would ever want to help perpetuate.

However, if speaking ones mind is done in a way I find unacceptable or threatening or offensive, whether it come from a man or a woman; I will explain my feelings to them.

There's actually a lot that I like about you, RJ. Your sense of humor, for one. Your capacity for compassion, for another.

There are also a few things about you that I recognize in myself. For example, the urge to protect those I care about - or even, in certain cases, those I don't know well - who just seem less strong or experienced, or in need somehow. This urge is a very powerful force. I get that.

Regrettably, on the Internet, protection options are limited. I can't physically step between the innocent and the nasties. I can't toss anybody from the room. This is really frustrating at times! I get that, too.

So I think I understand *why* you've been doing this witch hunting thing, but I also believe that the witch hunting itself is misguided. Did you really think that non-partisan observers would read multi-post, multi-thread, multi-attacker diatribes containing deeply personal criticisms of one forum member's maturity level, character, motive for posting, blah blah --- and not speak up? *That's* what I've been objecting to, RJ. Not anybody saying "knock off the rudeness", but a sustained, joint personal attack.

If the goal here is to help those who are shy of confrontation or wary of dealing with Internet nasties, it seems to me that a "teach a man to fish" strategy makes more sense, if you want to help those who PM you in distress about the boards. At the very least, you would then be working with those who appreciate your assistance.

Know what? I have. I do. I'm beginning to like the unmoderated free for all of the General Board over the collective bunched panties and why can't we all looove one another. We can't and don't. So?
