We've become a forum of library ushers, and little else.

LOL, so I've noticed....can I help with any of them? :D And yes, there is always something else to discover, even if only rediscovered through new eyes.

Hey, I haven't changed that much!

Have I? :)

I think she has my favorite av of anyone here. Makes you reconsider the corset.
Perhaps when my custom one arrives I will have to change my own av to show it.

In your view, perhaps a link does represent the end of the line. i view it as a starting place that also gives the originator points of reference to posters both past and present. Those still present occasionally update their thoughts in a thread i've linked, or bumped. i know Shadowsdream did a couple of days ago. Last, you just might give a new poster someone they might PM for further information.

Granted, i'm speaking from personal experience based on things i've written in public view. Just to be PC, my apologies to any of you veterans that received them from my actions. For those of you that have, or haven't, don't worry. i won't be doing it in the future.

Don't stop providing links to past pertinent posts, please, AA. One of the things I (at least) apparently didn't make plain was that a link to previous promulgations of pontifications, after a few direct responses to the newb's question(s), is often a pointer for me to places I may ponder the plenitude of other people's personal points of view, sometimes opposing my own, which provide me with previously-unconsidered ideas and viewpoints...

Your encyclopedic knowledge of what has come through here in the past - or your ability to sniff out related/similar/identical threads - has given me pause for thought on many an occasion, and I would hate to see that end.

Oh, you'll have to do a far better job of schmoozing me than this to get the real thing. ;)

I see this is going to require throaty whispers, expect a PM soon.

Please don't stop offering them AA. You know and find threads I'd never find and it is interesting at times to lurk around and read what current posters have to say on something as as what past posters thought.

I'm waiting.. I expect to be swept off my feet and astonished by your manly impulsiveness.

And Etoile, I'd definitely appreciate seeing the new corset. ;)

LOL, no, not in the ways that matter ....buuuut there has been an interesting addition that could be fun to play with given half a chance.

If you mean what I think you mean, wouldn't a more accurate term be taken advantage of ?

I know that I posted links to the library in my Frequently Asked Questions thread. My thinking there was really along the lines of:

The answer to the question is my answer, not necessarily everyone's answer. See? Here's some interesting discussion and argument to show that.

I dislike the attitude that we don't need to discuss things because we've already discussed it. I remember once being linked to a thread that purported to have "the answers", when in fact all it did was ask the same question, without any answers at all.

Also, just because we have discussed something before doesn't mean it isn't worth discussing again. People change their minds and opinions. Also, we have new, different and improved people, so the discussion can be different. Even with the same old worn unexciting people, the discussion can still be fun!

On the other hand, a link to a past thread can make for interesting associated reading. Sometimes I even make the effort to read them.

So generally I don't mind people posting links to past discussions, provided they aren't doing it to shut up the current discussion.

Maybe we should put together a list of things to discuss regularly? Once a month, we pick a topic we've already done, and start it up again... and not by adding a post to an old thread. Then we could even have scheduled discussions that people could think about ahead of time. Scary thought.

I think that's an excellent idea.

I would really love to see this place flourish more as a community that could discuss BDSM from an intellectual perspective and using an academic model like that one would be great.

Good idea, but I'd shorten the time span down to a week or two. A month is a long time for one topic. And if they run longer, that is ok too.

Now would I take advantage of such a wise and nurturing Dom?!!

I've no problem with weekly discussion threads. I'm sure we have more than enough topics that we could probably keep going without repeating for over a year.

So... shall we start a thread to assemble the topics?

As it is your idea, and a good one, I think you should have the honour of starting a new thread for it...thanks for the input as it is always welcomed to put forth fresh ideas. Hmm, ued to have a suggestions thread but it got buried.

Would a big suggestion thread, or a separate topic raising thread each week be better? I don't guess it really matters for now.

If it works maybe we can add a beginners level topic later as well.

Let's see how it goes. We can always change things around until we have something working well.

Hee! Well, yes. But it just seemed like a rather... bold... statement. It just struck me as odd that someone would say something that sounds like a thread-stopper in a thread about thread-stopping comments! (Have I confused you yet?)
