Fine. I'll just go to the beach then. It's a beautiful afternoon in Sydney. Jump in the car and pump my sounds. Smile and wave and flip my beautiful hair. Lick an ice cream and be all sexy and all sorts of other cool stuff like that. :)

Bloody hot, Down Under, I gather? Friend in NSW said a number of days over 40! Yikes!

We had an extremely hot summer. Hottest summer ever. It's not as hot now but still very warm. Warm enough for me to get a little burnt yesterday. The afternoons are dreamy. Pink. Orange. Breeze, sun. Beautiful sunsets. Thunderstorms.

You should come keep me warm this winter. I promise to not be good.

Yesterday I transplanted 8 new apple trees into my mini orchard. 2 varieties of Honeycrisp, a Winesap, and a Pink Lady.

Project 2 is to remove my peach trees, the fruit of which never manages to ripen before falling off, that the holes may be filled with either cherries or more apples.

Project 3 is to plant root-stock for grafting wood from an old heritage apple tree in an attempt to salvage the variety - a thin skinned super-sweet apple which nobody can identify.

When this is finished, we can get busy with some dogwoods, a garden path and some other decorative gardening.

the joys of unemployment.

I also need a new garden veggy to attempt this year. Maybe eggplant, which I have never been successful in growing in the past.

Is the peach large enough to cut up, split, and let dry for some BBQ smoking wood?

I've made several assumptions here.

They are useless peaches, about 1 to 1.5 inches which never reach their full ripeness. I am told by some career orchard men that my land is too low for good peaches, but that I could possibly try various varieties and eventually one might thrive in my location. I would rather buy peaches than plant a dozen trees at $15 to $50 each hoping to find one that might someday give me a peach.

The trees are large enough, but I would rather save them for my end-of-summer bonfire, human sacrifice, and marshmallow roast. Smore's too.

I always thought peaches one of the easiest to grow. All the folk in my neck of the woods have thriving peach trees. Apples seem harder. And cherries just feed the birds.

When do peaches start to bud and bloom? Later than apples? Seen a few seasons were cold weather hits apples trees. More so individual small orchards than big commercial interests.

Not what you would call low lying country though.
1" to 1.5" are definitely small peaches.

I would think willow is customary for human sacrifices, but peach will have to do.

I would have thought ash or oak as holy trees for pagans. But with the emerald ash borer and oak getting a bit rare and pricey, peach will suffice.

$450 later and my car is running much better. Smooth. My boss asks me what's wrong with my car and i tell him it's the engine mounts. He said "You've been thrashing it." I assured him I haven't and it's just wear n tear.

My days of going sideways are behind me. I go to Woolies and I go to work. When it rains I look at the roundabout and the handbrake but I refrain.

I always consider it a deal if I get my vehicle back from the mechanic for under $500.

Meh, $450 AUS is like $280 US dollars, so... ya Meh. :cattail:

Hello petal. Hope you're doing good.

Hi! :)

I thought about you last night! I haven't been around much and I started wondering about you. If you are well. If you were ok.

I'm meh. I'm alright. Missing the missus. I can't stop thinking about her and it's kinda made me...stuck? Like I'm living but I'm not really living, you know? It's weird because for the first time in a long time I've lost my way a bit. I don't really know what I'm doing at the moment. This and that, but no...like, real direction.

Other than that same old same old. I took this kids to see Beauty and the Beast yesterday. Went for a walk with my market trolley to Woolies and bought some camembert and brie. Raspberries and inch-thick tbone steaks for dinner. They were huge steaks. Dinner plate sized things. I ate half of one with mushroom sauce and greek salad. The girl ate a whole one. Very yummy. And crepes for desert.

How are you anyway you doing ok? I miss you.

Aww petal. :(

I'm OK apart from work stuff. Phil is on a trial after appealing against his shafting, God knows what will happen there but all will be revealed in three more weeks. Due to cuts and staff restructure yesterday we lost five staff to other satellite offices. Gutted cos two of them I'm really close to and make the days brighter. It's gonna feel weird on Monday for sure.

Other than that crap, life is good!
