I don't think either is bad or good or that the people who post on them are such. It's more a case of what your comfortable with. There are different feels to the two boards. There are good people on both boards, there are cliques on both boards. It's just a matter of preference.

You know, the very least you can do is be honest with yourself as well as all here. You post this seemingly innocent little post - "Why do?" Then you, as well as several others, come here criticizing, and insulting people from the GB? Now, is this truly fair? And I wonder, now that you have admitted to being "trashed" on the GB, why you didn't post this here instead of there? Maybe it's because the "clique" that makes up the PG would fall behind and support you?

Fact is, the statement highlighted above, and the comments made here by others, only prove that people here are just as "high school" as you (generic) you may feel the GB is.

As for DCL - it is amazing how many of you will criticize this man and then follow it up by saying, "Well, I really don't know him all that well." For fuckin' sakes! If you don't know some one "well" what gives you the right to insult him? Especially since you know he doesn't venture over here? Oh, but right, the GB is the where the true "high schoolers" are, right? I gotcha.

As for DCL, he can be acerbic. It's part of his charm. He can also be your most staunch supporter, if you show him you are not full of BS. Get to know the man first, then insult him if you don't like him. But be big enough to do it to his face - and prove you are truly and "adult".

As for ignoring sig lines? Hell, how can you when they take up an entire screen? And I have an 18" monitor?

The least you could have done, Forevery_Gemini is to have let people know in your opening thread that you had had problems on the GB. Some of us would not have bothered to waste our typing to a thread that was nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt at "jabbing" the GB.

Okay...there is no call for flaming Chele...No one insulted you. I wasn't insulting DCL, as I don't know the man from Adam's house cat, I was insulting people that would blindly follow him. I also said that no one has ever been nasty to me personally. I was simply commenting on the kind of behavior I have seen on the GB. I am not part of any clique and as I have said, I have no desire to be part of one.
You know, there is an option to turn off peoples sig lines, if you don't like them. I have sig lines turned off for that very reason. There is no reason to complain about them unnecessarily.
I am glad you have found friends on the GB. That isn't the reality of a lot of people on lit. I know several people on lit that get completely trashed on the GB board for no good reason at all. Just because they don't fit into someone's idea of cool. That's just ridiculous!
If DCL is a friend of yours, then I apologize if it seemed like I was insulting him. As I said, I wasn't...I was commenting on the people that can't seem to produce any thoughts of their own and have to rely on him to tell them everything.

personally, i go over to the GB out of sheer curiousity most times, see who's slagging off who,look out for some sarcastic witty remarks. maybe its because I am a northern english lass but I seem to see the humour in the posts over in the GB more than most people. I think some of the "most hated" posters over there are absolutely hilarious. Mind you nobody takes any notice of me over there ,or least haven't so far, maybei 'd feel different if i was the butt of the jokes...but i can give as good as i take*L*

I used to be on the GB quite a bit, when I first came to lit. I left there because the reasons I already stated. I don't have scorn for the GB in general, just some of the behavior I have seen over there. Certainly nothing personal against you, or anyone for that matter. Love the Wonder Woman AV, btw.

I have see a few like me that post in both. I have a few threads in the PG that I post in and I also post in the GB.

They have the boards for a reason so you can pick the kind that is for you. If one is not for you then dont go there. Easy as that. GB you have to be able to take shit as well as give it. (sorta like real life) PG is play time.

What I believe or don't believe is immaterial. My point is that acceptance is harder to attain for ME on the GB...that is no putdown of anybody or any group. To me it is relatively easy...if I do not like the weather; I move or choose not to participate. I do read posts on the GB often, I find the intelligence and wit stimulating. And yes, I do have friends there. I choose to look at it as that I have friends in Lit and don't quantify it further. A person is not considered a GB friend or a PG friend or a Poetry board friend...they are all friends--plain and simple to me. I won't waste any more typing or time to try to explain my position, since it is counterproductive. I keep my own house clean. I wish you well and sincerely hope you are not offended.
