So whatcha cookin'?Isn't that a mandatory thing with Thanksgiving dinners? Although one should NEVER have only one pie on the menu!
I just got back from the grocery store - got all the stuff together for the dishes I'm responsible for and then some. Relaxing this evening before things kick into high gear tomorrow night.

So whatcha cookin'?
I'm doing the pumpkin pie tomorrow, sisters are bringing cherry pie and pecan bars (like pecan pie but with only a small sliver of the goopy inbetween stuff). Used to have mince meat pie too but got to where no one was eating it anymore. I'd prefer apple but since I'm not eating that stuff anymore....![]()

Back in the day the Nonesuch mince meat was very different. It came in a hard block and you had to boil it with water, etc. Today's that comes in a jar is so ridiculously sweet no one (at least in my family) likes it anymore.Mince meat like honest to god mince meat?
Or mince meat like the Nunsuch mince meat filling?![]()
Well, yeah, I tried to tell him that, but ...well, it's their "first" Thanksgiving as husband and wife, so I'm just going to enjoy.Rhum.
Didja know that tequila was the result of Spaniards trying to make rhum without sugar cane and only having agave juice as a fermenting base?
Stores are closing fair early & you know there will be a last minute crush. Suggest you call your brother and on the down low, find out if they're missing/needing anything before you hit the road.
It's a big dinner, after all. Lots of details to track.

Meh.. it's just apple, raisins, cinnamon, cloves and other such spices and molasses (maybe).. nothing too bad.I wasn't upset when the mince meat pies stopped showing up at Thanksgiving. Can't feature anyone liking that.
However,........Pecan Rules!
Awww.. let them enjoy their first one and don't sweat the small stuff. Even if something goes awry, it'll be a story to look back on and remember and chuckle about.Well, yeah, I tried to tell him that, but ...well, it's their "first" Thanksgiving as husband and wife, so I'm just going to enjoy.
I might pick up the tequila... or rum... or whatever libation I can get my hands on prior to setting out.![]()
That's how I feel about lip color!! About the time I find one I love they quit selling it or change the formula. And in other news....
I just ordered two discontinued perfumes from ScentMasters...... hope they do a good job recreating my stuff.. I hate that you get a good fragrance (or two) and the company decides to d/c it.
*pout*

Honestly, the honest to god mince meat recipes are pretty interesting. But alas, I don't think I have it in me to make one of them.

Pie or Pi.. whichever floats your boat. What is the topic tonight?![]()
