Did anyone catch the the Homerun Derby Last night ..I am not a huge Baseball fan but that was fun to watch ..Sammy Sosa is something and Giambi I know it is spelt wrong but New York was lucky to get him ...Well not to much to report today but i do hope everyone is keeping it clean but I know you guys better than that so I am not going to loook at the post from last night ..

If all goes as planned I am going to have surgery done on the 15th for my ruptured disk and was hoping someone would volunteer to keep this thread alive for me because I might not be around for a week or so ..Any takers..Take care and have a good day all:)

Not to worry KS, I am sure we will all put forth a collective effort to keep your thread going. I mean Oogie and 1 sexylady bickering back and forth might do it for you anyway :) I'll try to keep them on the topic of sports :)

Knight, I am sorry that you have to have the surgery.... but never fear... this thread will survive.... especially if the Dodgers keep playing well... ;)
I couldn't resist...

We are going to miss you here... and your insights into hockey... but we will welcome you back with open arms....

Don't worry Knightstalker....we will shamelessly bump this as much as necessary...

Did anyone watch the all-star game? I didn't but I just heard the score....geez...that is an awfully high score for an allstar game...it really makes you wonder what has happened to the game of baseball when pitching no longer overwhelms hitting...

they just announced that if the game is still tied after this half inning (11th) it will end in a tie

Selig said it was because the picthers were used up... they didn't want to keep going and tire anyone out excessively...
btw... did Gagne get in the game?... I missed large parts of the game:(

I knew I could count on you guys thank you for volunteering ...I did not see or hear what the score of the all star game ended up being ...As for the homerun derby I heard it was so hot that the pitcher was just throwing it slow to the guys and thats why so many were leaving the park...Wish I had some hockey news to bore ya all with but nothing to report today ...oh well Football season will be here soon and I can start bitching about how bad the Lions are again this season ..it is a tradition in detroit to get ready for another awful year ..The new stadium should help them about as much as it did the Tigers...:)

Hello and an option for the Commish

Hello, I am new so forgive any fopah's.

As for the All Star game (isn't that contradictory to begin with)? Leave it to Bud to only plan to add to the roster. What happens when you add to the roster, Are they going to deliberately save 1 pitcher not to play? Who is willing to sit and not play?

What about having all players from all teams come and just sign autographs for the 3 hours. The outcome is irrelevant anyway. Or make the managers/coaches play the game. What would it hurt if they had sore arms for 3 days.

Maybe they could have a pitching machine. It is pretty much a home run derby anyway.

Why not just announce in the beginning the game will end after 9 innings if there is no winner. Then the managers could plan to have all Pitchers play 2 or 3 innings. As long as the fans know in the beginning, there would not be any hurt feelings or feeling left hanging. At this rate, it was a waste of time to watch.

While I'm on the soapbox, why not just have all rain outs and extra inning games count as a tie. then they don't have to issue rainchecks for the tickets or extend the tv time. They get to keep the money, which is all they want. We can start keeping stats as W-L-T each count as points like hockey 3-2-1.

I am so tired of hearing how these players are heroes and role models. They are entertainers. Firemen, Policemen (except those abusing their position) are heroes. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things under extreme circumstances are heroes. Placing their lives at risk for the safety of the innocent is important.
