Way to go Lakers!

Well the Lakers did it. But what a game. Sacramento really played it tough. Mike Bibby - what a player!!! He almost did it by himself. Shaq played a great game and the rest of the Lakers came through.

GO LAKERS in the finals!

GO WINGS in the Stanley Cup!

Mike Bibby was incredible.... Do you think we can tempt him to come down south and play in LA?

Lakers

So what is the deal with the Lakers? Is the Zen of Phil Jackson wearing off, is the team chemistry just not there, are they not playing as well as they can, or are the other teams learning how to play against them?

As with hockey, I would expect the west to win, but I think the NBA finals will be a lot tighter than the NHL

a little of all i believe.... and remember the Kings did have the best record in the NBA this season... so the tough series is not really unexpected.... as for Phil's Zen?.... I think that is a load of crap... excuse my french.... LOL

Zen

I thought it was a bunch of crap when he was in Chicago. I could have coached that team to 6 championships. I probably could have gotten the Lakers the championship with Kobe and Shaq :)

i don't think that Jacksons strength is taking players and molding them ... his strength seems to lie in motivating players...

coach

I agree. I don't think he is that good as a coach as far as pure coaching goes. He knows how to take players and make them work to their potential...and I guess the is a part of coaching

Just sitting here waiting for tomorrow to come...I wish I knew a bit about basketball but never got into that sport ...I do know that I don't like shaq or bryant so I guess I would root for the other team the Kings is it? oh well tomorrow the Wings start on winning the cup but something tells me that The caines will be tougher than people think I have always respected Ron Francis he is like Steve yzerman in a way not very vocal but lets his actions speake for him...I would like to see the wings do it for bowman so he can have the record I believe he deserves it because he is the best damn coach there ever was..:)

Kobe and Shaq didn't win it until Phil Jackson got here so I guess his motivational skills and getting them to play for the team and reach the true team potential is why his teams have won so frequently.

Yesterday it was the bench and the triangle that outscored Shaq and Kobe in the second half and overtime (11 for 24 vs. 7 for 22).

BTW, Mike Bibby is a free agent. Maybe he would like to be closer to his father Henry. That ought to make the Laker haters livid!!!

The finals won't be any easier. New Jersey has a lot of heart and they have Byron Scott. The fear factor could well be the difference for them. We shall see.

BTW, KS - don't know why you don't like Shaq and Kobe but I have heard a lot of good things about both of them. Sometimes the trash talking gets out of hand.

Rooting for the underdogs!

Guess I'll come out and admit I would LOVE seeing the Nets and 'Canes win their championships!:D It would be first-time for both teams, and in "honor" of disliking the Yankees, I'd like to see some "new" winners this season!

Now that I have jinxed these two wonderful teams, I will bow out gracefully and watch the Mets continue to wobble!;)

I don't "hate" any team! Really!! I just haven't liked the Yankees much since they won the recent Subway Series. It's been quite difficult being a Met's fan in Yankee territory (NYC)! I think after so many championships, the team should take a break for a decade or so!:D ;)

Well I am from the old school that says: It is the team that wins the games...but if they didn't have the money to buy the best players then I guess they wouldn't win... My grandfather got me started on them many moons ago and I love them anyway...but my s/o likes the Mets... I am just a New York Fan... I go to see the Newark Bears which Rick Cerone owns and I love that...less expenisive too...more of a family thing... I think both teams were champions in the Subway Series..:) But someone had to lose :(

My son plays ball and tonight he has a game...Little League...and his team is in 1st place...I will be the loud mother in the stands...:D

I believe that Mike and Henry Bibby don't have the best relationship... at least according to my Pop... the worlds biggest sports expert.... He says they don't speak...

The series should be great... I think Bryon Scott has done a phenominal job with the Nets... and coming back to coach against his old team... what could be better than that?

Nets

I defintiely don't think Byron Scott got the recognition he deserved this year...nor did Jason Kidd. I don't expect the Nets to be able to Match Sahq under the net, but If they can get hot from 3-point range, they might make a series out of it

Mel... first off... congratulations on your 100 th post... and you thought you would never get there....

but secondly... didn't Jason Kidd win NBA player of the year? Isn't that enough recognition? Not to mention he may go home with championship ring and a MVP of the playoffs....

I thought Tim Duncan won the NBA MVP

UMMMM ,,, maybe he did.. I guess It should have been Jason Kidd.... all i know Shaq is pissed he didnt win... with his big toe hurting and all... that toe should be worth extra points towards an MVP...

toe

LOL. It is a big toe...probably bigger tham some people's foot :)

I think he is just whining. I don't think Duncan deserved the MVP, and I don't think Shaq did either. It should have gone to Jason Kidd or....what is that guy from the Celtics???? I don't remember now

yeah it is a big toe... and a big pain in the rump too... we have been hearing about it nearly every night on the news... LOL

injuries

that's why I love hockey players. You never hear them complain about an injury, and rarely do they use an injury as an excuse. They take stitches on the bench and out dislocated joints back into place and go on playing.

A big toe injury...That's 15 days on the DL in baseball :)

Today is the day Stanley Cup finales are here Of course I am behind the wings because they have had a great season and have so much fire power that Irbe may not have such an easy time against us...If detroit can control the B.B.C. linr we should be able to knock these guys out in 4 to 5 games I will say a sweep since they have done it twice before..I do not hate Carolina I just think they may get nervous and well we always kick there butts when we play them They have not won a game in our arena since 1989 I think they were still called Hartford at the time and since then have only beaten us a handful of times...I do have alot of respect for Francis tho I think he is somewhat like Yzerman..Of course thay also have Arron Ward who was a wing and I used to like him even if he spent most of his time in Scotty's dog house..Oh well Go wings..Take care all and have a great day..:)

To all you Hockey Nuts out there....

:D Yeah you know who you are......Good luck with whatever team your screaming for...  :rose:

Same thing with football players. They play with broken arms and worse all the time. Baseball players...hah...."my left leg is sore today Skip I can't play."
