What’s your most controversial opinion?

Editing or the bad things in life are why this country is getting so soft.
This is nothing but a bad take frankly. Our country is getting soft? Ugh. No. Just no. And this has what to with anything said here?
Opinions are opinions. Even if we don't agree with them or like them.
Thats true to an extent, sure. But people are allowed to respond too. Why is that such a problem?
If you find yourself constantly wanting to fight someone in this thread you can do 1 of 2 things. Ignore. Or move on.
People calling out someone for saying something massively shitty and hurtful to the point to where it qualifies as straight up hate speech (a mod who I trust literally called it as such) isn't "constantly wanting to fight." Also why are you so eager for people to not express strong opinions against hate speech? You seem more eager to tone police than to actually say "Know what? This person saying this is awful."

I'm just saying think this shit out. Stop trying to shut people up and listen tot the conversation.

Are people mad that controversial opinions are causing controversy?? Wtf?

Have you SEEN the mud slinging regarding the pineapple on pizza discourse?

This is not a place to state an opinion if you don’t want feedback on it.

And if you’re a bigot, you’re going to get called out for it. (I didn’t see the original post but if I saw homophobic comments I would have had something to say about that for sure).

So it seems like you have an opinion about what people are saying and would like them to not say it?
I always have opinions. But what good does it do to fight the person you don't agree with? Do you think it changes his opinion?
Agree to disagree, I don't agree at all. To me, that is hate speech.
Simple disagreements are just as effective then name calling. Either way. A few people on the internet won't change his mind. Not unless he's looking for someone to change his mind.
Kinda like the alcoholic won't stop until they are ready.

Some topics in here have angered me before too, but I'm trying to do better about my reactions. I have a fairly long ignore list too.

But I also agree with haha about the dog piling.

Again. We can just agree to disagree. 💋

I prefer arguments over pineapple on pizza vs homophobia

Sign me up!

I'm not saying people shouldn't respond, but what good does the name calling do? Have you forgotten how to debate without the name calling?
You don't have to agree with him and you can still say that his opinion is hurtful.
Express your opinions without attacking.

Yes what he said was hateful and hurtful. I'm sorry it hurt you.

I thought it out before I said it too. So you're welcome to ignore me. 💋

Totally this. When you censor something you just hide. Let people see what was said and they can draw their own conclusions as to whether it’s bs or not. If the attempt is to change a mind, you can’t do it by hiding, ignoring, blocking it. The only way is to discuss and then move on.

Even if they are completely wrong and at the end still insist that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza, it’s their shortcoming not yours.

So, I like the principle. Be kind, let people have their say and such.

But where does one draw the line between being kind/not dogpiling on and enabling evil? Agreeing to disagree is fine and all until it ends in evil. There are some fights that actually NEED to be had, and history bears that out.

Because there are some things that absolutely should get dog piled on, absolutely should get shouted down and absolutely should not be allowed to stand unchallenged.

I can't speak to whatever got deleted today. I didn't see it. I won't attack or defend it. But I'm honestly curious here. Where is that line for people?

There shouldn’t be a line of what some arbitrary person decides what is and what isn’t. Nothing can be accomplished and changed if one side is shut down and shut out.

For what you deem as hate. Boxing “hate” out still leaves it there and prevents any discussion or chance to change.

I honestly don't know how to answer that. I've walked out of this thread many times because I wanted to scream and yell.

I also know I personally dog piled more when I knew I had friends that would back me up. Once I shoved everyone away, i rarely do it now because I'm giving my own thoughts.

I think many having similar opinions isn't necessarily dog piling.
I agree about fights also. But when it turns into 6 year olds on the playground it becomes less effective. I've seen plenty in here argue very effectively without the name calling.

But I'll stop now as I'm just pissing people off.
