What’s your most controversial opinion?

I wouldn't call it evil, to me it's just a bunch of stories that eventually got documented by a group of monks in the 5th century. Think about it, no tv, no newspapers, no books (writing was the domain of the wealthy). Stories would have been the entertainment in those times, told over and over again passed from one gathering to the next, can you imagine how they would be embellished over time. If Jesus lived in our society now he would have been discredited a million times before breakfast. I believe a Jesus existed but the fish and wine miracles were just stories made to promote a narrative that people needed at the time.

There is of course the people that follow the bible and it's stories and believe it all to be true. I work with a guy who is well educated in mathematics and he believes the tower of Bable existed and all that went with it. I have found there are people that find comfort in believing it all and each day I am surprised by who they are.
On spot. When you tell a story frequently enough, eventually it becomes the truth itself.

Pretty much. But I think this thread was very intentional.
I've always thought this thread was either created...or shortly afterwards hijacked...to out people of differing opinions. People get ganged up on and even silenced for opinions they've posted. I don't report people. I choose instead to silence them with my ignore button. This thread alone has kept my ignore button gainfully employed for some time now. :ROFLMAO:

Yes, I thought much the same. Though I thought it was more a honey trap for really problematic people - giving them a place where they'd be encouraged to say something awful enough to justify them being banned or otherwise moved off the site. But maybe that was just a happy accident rather than the reason the thread was started.

I can't even remember who they were. But I think that happened?

I'm crap at Lit drama.
This is the Lit equivalent of “I’m a nice guy.”

🚩

Unrelated but somewhat related…
My controversial opinion is is that people who come into Lit drama JUST to post how much they hate drama are BAD LIARS.

I actually am a nice guy who hates drama but I think you know better than to believe my dumb shit.
Re: drama.

My opinion is that I think the term "drama" more often than not is weaponised against women to keep us in line.

Our emotions and thoughts are demeaned and belittled into being OTT or unreasonable because it doesn't fit the narrative of the man.

I don't usually post shit about and to other people because I want Lit to be a fun place for me. However, I regret some of the decisions I've made in the past to keep quiet in fear of being accused of just being dramatic.

There are some truly awful people here who've managed to get away with their shitty behaviour because of this.

But I'd like to think that the tables are turning and that when anyone - man or woman or other - speaks up, they are taken more seriously.

I think one of the most awkward times is when someone's humour isn't understood or appreciated, and so disagreements occur.

But that's just my opinion. Not looking for drama. 🤷😁

Still say save the drama for your mama or maybe Facebook.

In today's world most people are trapped.Trapped in debt, toxic relationships, jobs they hate,or lifestyles that drain them.

Freedom is a rare thing.

I’ve seen multiple women just in the last week alone say that someone’s behaving really poorly in their DM’s but they don’t want to out them for fear of drama. For all the talk of this place being dramatic, it’s really rather restrained.

I’m not calling anyone out, I get it. But this place avoids drama like the plague relative to how much drama it SHOULD have.

Religion in general just needs to go. The world would be a much better place without it
Den of iniquity

Etymology: Unclear, but probably inspired by the "den of thieves" in the KJV Bible (Matthew 21:13: My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves), which is a calque of Latin spēlunca latrōnum.

Just sayin... ;)
