If you voted for Trump, you support him & you own him forever. Fuck your "safe space"

What's Los Angeles got to do with your spelling fail?

Guess you really couldn't keep up with the rest of the class!

And do you know when he is going to blink? When the TSA stays home. They can't legally strike, of course. But they could stage rolling sick-outs at hub airports like Chicago, Atlanta, JFK and Dallas.

Air travel would be in turmoil. Even the most ardent MAGA brain will get upset if his flight to Mama's funeral is cancelled. Most importantly, American business will NOT be amused....Trump will be forced to fold his tent or we'll see President Pence in a month.

Looks like the end game started today.

FAA has ordered Laguardia (NY), Newark and Philadelphia airports closed to inbound traffic today due to ATC and TSA shortages. They will make a decision on JFK (NY) airport later this morning. JFK had 130 of 228 controllers report for work.

Washington (not sure if Dulles or National) and Jacksonville have cancelled half their flights.

Busiest flying day of the week for corporate America.

YOUR MOVE, MR. PRESIDENT

For one Atlanta air traffic controller, the airport, which processes more than 100 million passengers per year, has become “a total shitshow.”

Nope.....still Pelosi's move.

You still don't understand how the US government works do you Rob?

Rubbie don't understand much. Right now he's having problems trying to figure out how to make 3 equal 4 while telling everyone it's all our fault they don't.

I have always wondered why the gov is required to pay for security for private enterprise.

Make the airlines pay for them.
I don't have a problem with that, provided good oversight is provided, but we all know how well that's worked for private prisons.

But it's 100% irrelevant to the current situation.

It's apples and oranges but from the company perspective, it was a money maker.

You against making money?
So you'd have no problem with private security for travel at the expense of traveler safety and those companies writing the laws that would be "protecting" travelers.

Why is it irrelevant? If the airlines were paying for the TSA screeners, there's be no current issues with airports being shuttered and the TSA employees would be getting PAID right now.

Your complaint is really that there might be some kind of haphazard enforcement if the FedGov wasn't in charge of everything. Yet, at the State level, security guards seem to be able to provide a level of security at least equal to TSA personnel doing their jobs in all those "tests" of security screening.

The Fed only needs to mandate training standards for TSA security personnel and leave it to the airlines to implement those standards. It's more like OSHA than anything else.

So you'd have no problem with private security for travel at the expense of traveler safety and those companies writing the laws that would be "protecting" travelers.

If the FedGov mandated the standards, the private airlines wouldn't be writing the "laws" (which they don't anyway). They'd have to be in compliance with Federal regulations about security screening personnel.

On the flip side, tech in this area will get a huge boost because the airlines would need top of the line screening capability and they'll have to stay top of the line. The Gov buys from the cheapest bidder and doesn't update the tech for decades.

It's also stupid to assume that airlines will make cuts to passenger safety knowing about the very real possibility of accidental death/injury claims that will head their way after an event brings a plane down and kills a few hundred (or thousands) of people.

If the FedGov mandated the standards....
I'm pretty sure the government mandates prison standards. Yet private prisons are shit and the companies running them write the laws.

Not to mention that if wrongdoing or negligence are suspected I don't believe private companies are subject to FOIA requests.

Add that to the fact that airlines would bury in the ticket contract that by flying you agree not to file a lawsuit and all disputes will be handled via arbitration with arbitrators selected by the airline.
Kinda like the government regulated financial industry does.

Pelosi ain't the one the voters hold accountable for this.

Voter opinion is 100% irrelevant to the structure and function of our government.

The budget ball is always in the Houses court.....short of a total government restructuring it will never not be.

It's so in their court all the rest of the gov. has to do is say no and they are dead in the water.

BUTT!!! Since Trump pussed out on saying no, the house gets a pass from the executive branch and Ol' Mitch "the Turtle" McConnell is probably rage quitting as we speak.

It is not TSA that is shuttering airports ... it is the lack of Air Traffic Controllers.

I keep trying to tell you that the private prison thing and TSA aren't the same. Privatized prisons are corporations which have a "contract" with the gov. The TSA IS "the Gov" being used for private corporate purposes.

Right now the TSA is more like the ATC, Fed employees but working for civilian companies. That works for the ATC because the ATC isn't beholden to the passengers or the airlines. ATC also doesn't have control over who files and who doesn't, so long as you're operating within the rules and any NOTAMS or flight restrictions, ATC doesn't care. Actually, they don't care if you aren't operating with the rules. They'll warn you and then just notify the appropriate Gov authority before turning to the next aircraft on their screen after dismissing your blip.

Plus, you don't need ATC if you don't fly commercial. There is no requirement to even file a flight plan in most of America's airspace unless you're a commercial airline.

OTOH, TSA works directly with the passengers. THEY say who gets to board and who doesn't. THEY control who flies and who doesn't. This is a "gate guard" for a private corporation being paid by the taxpayer. Why?

Harpy you're all over this thread, give it up, he is a shitty person who doesn't belong in the Oval Office. I know lawyers like to argue, but damn, it's ok to concede defeat. It doesn't make you less of a man.
