We've talked sandwiches.... what's your favorite kind of soup? Does soup have a weather? Do you like soup as a meal or do you prefer something more forkable??

Depends on the season! I make an awesome vegetable chowder but I wouldn’t eat that this time of year. I make a lot of gazpacho or asparagus soup this time of year.

My favorite soup is matzo ball but that usually has to be made and fuck that!

And to me, soup is definitely a meal!

I love a good corn chowder - especially in the summertime when the sweet corn is in season. So yummy.

In the winter, I'm a fan of split pea or vegetable beef soups. And yes, soup is definitely a meal.

When the weather starts turning colder I'll make big stockpots of ham & corn chowder, beef stew, and chili, and freeze them in Ziploc bags. Those will usually last through to spring. Those three are my favorites. Unless I'm sick. Then all I want is the basic, no-frills, red-and-white can Campbell's chicken noodle.

Well, I am not a huge soup fan. I mean it is fine, but I have never thought "omg, I must have soup now".

I guess my favorite would be pasta e fagioli, hot and sour, New England clam chowder, and gazpacho with a very generous amount of sour cream.

I love soup as a meal. Add a crunchy baguette to dip into it...yummmm. In the summer, like Suz_anne I love corn chowder. Gazpacho too.

My favorite all time soup is Tom Kha Gai. Omg it’s heavenly. Nice and spicy. A little tart. So so good.

I think it might be a regional thing? I've always lived in places that get cold in the winter and soup tends to be a winter food. If you're in Florida year-round, the need for a bowl of hot and steamy might not be as great.

Most bowls of spicy noodles will hit the spot. A good bowl of ramen or pho is a winner every time

I actually lived in Pennsylvania the first half my life, and it was still whatever. Ok, the concept of a soup is a slow simmer to meld and bring a depth of flavor. The issue for me is that melding also muddies the unique flavor of the individual ingredients and in the end, every bite tastes the same. Plus there isn't much variety in texture. It is fine, but usually a little bit boring. But it is very cozy.

A good soup has layered flavors. If I make it, it is a meal. All you need is good bread...broken...not cut. One of my favs is a potato leek combination.

Eh, go to the deli and get it

Most of those balls aren’t very good. The broth is ok but the balls are ether too watery (fall apart too easily) or too tasteless. The one I DO buy is serviceable but the idea of a giant matzo ball doesn’t appeal to me. Homemade really does make a difference there IMO

Best soup in the world is homemade chicken soup - chicken chunky, not shredded.

I would eat that year round.

Other soups? That's a cooler weather thing. Especially in the fall for bisques and chowders and the like.

I forgot that when I’m under the weather or depressed, take out hot and sour soup is my jam.
