Oh my God. I had this dream last night, even talked about it. It’s supposedly about losing your sexuality???
I bite my tongue and grind my teeth in my sleep.
It’s scary.

Interesting that I have not had one of those nightmares since being on the boards. Dentist does report some evidence of teeth grinding.
Thanks for the link. Interesting study.

Let's talk about silly fears.

What do you have a ridiculous fear of? Something your logical mind knows better but some little place in the back of your mind still gets chilla thinking about....

when i’m at great heights, in open air, i’m afraid i might jump. how fucked up is that?

Actually not that fucked up at all. It's a real phenomenon that a lot of people experience. I noted it when I was young and it really freaked me out.
I don't know if it makes me feel better that it's not an uncommon thing because it was one of those 'mysterious' impulses that I think make humans such interesting creatures (like the impulse to spank a butt that you're attracted to or wrap your hands around the throat of the woman that is making you feel soooooo good). So, good to know I'm not crazy, but fuck you science for making me less interesting and weird than I thought I was.

A quick article about a study on the phenomenon if anyone is interested - https://bigthink.com/stephen-johnson/study-explains-that-strange-urge-to-jump-when-near-cliffs

Im not sure its an illogical or ridiculous fear but i fear something dire happening suddenly to me and my SO's being able to see my Lit or skype account before i was able to log out.

Along the same lines as above - I live alone. I fear something happening to me and nobody knowing about it. Then when my kids have to clean out my house, they find my toy and lingerie collections. Uh-oh. At least they're both adults now.

Reading other people's fears is hilarious, not that they're not valid. I dislike clowns and rodents. A true stressor is getting on a jam packed elevator at the hospital where in work. Patients, family members, coworkers I'm trying to avoid and all the smells that go along with humanity. Gag

Science makes me wet.
This is dated, but good.

The smell of Cdiff.

We've talked sandwiches.... what's your favorite kind of soup? Does soup have a weather? Do you like soup as a meal or do you prefer something more forkable??

A good bowl of Ramen or Udon with Pork Cutlet, no fish cake please. Or Phó, usually with shredded chicken or thin beef strips and lots of Thai basil and lime.

I have an irrational fear of being on top of water, such as in a boat, on a dock etc. It even kicked in while I was getting a chance to tour the QEII when it was docked in Honolulu, or the time I was visiting the USS Missouri. Both are so massive, you would think the fear wouldn't arise.

I do know where the fear came from however, my parents and I were camping on the lake in our boat. I was about 3 or 4 at the time. According to the story, someone in a big Cabin Cruiser went by at a very high rate of speed for around 2am time of night/morning. The unexpected wake tipped the boat up high enough and fast enough I was tossed overboard, slipped out of my life vest and sank. (I didn't float well growing up, not even in the Great Salt Lake.)

Ever since, there is that fear. I try not to let it stop me though.

🤮 but from the other end. I’m good friends with a couple of the medical laboratory scientists in the lab, avoid the microbiology department at all costs. Pure strains of C Diff and Klebsiella grown daily. 🤮

This is so gross. And it does have a smell. Some people say they can’t detect it but dammit, I know it immediately. Putrid.

I don't have any of those types of fears tickling at me.

About the only fear I have that alters my behavior is a fear of being caught in a fire and that is born from things I saw when I was a cop.

So, multiple smoke detectors, regularly checked, multiple fire extinguishers strategically placed, an emergency smoke hood in a box next to the bed, careful distribution of electric load, and clean exit lines.

Fire is scary stuff, so I'm set up to give myself the best chance to get out alive.

I am not actually afraid of fire itself, just of being trapped in a burning building.

My fears—loving someone and having to say goodbye. This causes me to not open up too much. Also I’m ok with thunder and rain, but strong wind freaks me out.

Zombies. The Walking Dead. Fucking Zack Snyder and the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead.

Yeah yeah, I know....but knowing my luck, I will wake up in the middle of it, and walk right into the zombie apocalypse. So fuck me. :(

Let's talk music!

What genre of music is your go-to for a good mood? What song cheers you up?
