Day 20: A song that was #1 on Christmas but not a holiday song

Makin me go the extra mile today. I googled what song was number one Christmas 1957. Swallows of Capistrano by fuckin Pat Boone…

But this version is far better. My mom and dad had this one on a 78 somewhere in the cellar. My mom especially loved the Ink Spots.

I would think most Pogues fans wouldn't have cared, other than to take the piss out of the pop establishment. (As I remember, the BBC looked down their noses at their name as well )
They definitely did and a few years ago they stopped playing the song, claiming gay people were offended, having played the song for many years. 😊

Day 20: A song that was #1 on Christmas but not a holiday song

I used to follow the UK charts back before streaming and I still don't pay much attention to US charts so it's Wikipedia for me...a fabulous throwback caught my eyes. I still need Nicole Kidman to do another musical πŸ₯Ί

Day 20: A song that was #1 on Christmas but not a holiday song

This song is 1) a great song and 2) the genesis of a great little story from 15 years ago. From Wikipedia:

"Killing in the Name" was released as the lead single from Rage Against the Machine in November 1992. It reached number 25 on the UK singles chart. In 2009, following a public campaign protesting the British talent show The X Factor, "Killing in the Name" became the UK Christmas number one.

Sounds like Christmas to me!

Day 21: A Christmas song

I had no idea this was some sort of Christmas song, just thought it was catchy... Was only a few years ago that I heard some a capella version in a shopping mall and wondered to myself why someone would be playing Speedwagon covers at Christmas time πŸ˜…

Lol, I 😍 this but also am 🀣!
